First day back at work

Well, today was my first day back and it went well.  I was able to juggle all my drinking, pill taking, eating, etc. etc.  :)  About the only thing that FIGURES was that all day I had gas.  I swear my butt muscles got a good workout today from keeping them clenched together.  HA HA.  But all is well and I was pleased.  I'm pretty tired, even though during the recovery time off from work I tried to keep on the same schedule, it's very different mozying about the house and actually working all day. I'm excited about tomorrow morning, I have a follow-up appt with the doctor and nutritionist and have armed myself with lots of questions.  Although, I'm following my progress on my scale at home, I know that it differs from the office scale, so I'll curious to see what theirs says.  I haven't been weighed by the office since surgery.  Today I have officially lost 59lbs!!  (Including 2wk pre-op liquid diet)  I'm so freaking excited.  Only a few more pounds until I'm out of the 300's.  That is SOOOOO exciting to me.  I was 350+ for so long now that I almost can't remember the last time I was a 200-something.  :) I've really noticed a difference in my stomach.  It doesn't protrude as much in the upper belly area.  Also, I was able to put on an older bra of mine.  HOORAY!  Because these mammer-jammers have GOT TO GO!!  Then again, after this is all said and done I'll end up with droppy skin sacks, but oh hell I can just pop them into a push-up bra or something one day and have skin cleavage.  HA HA. I'm still working out the kinks.  There are things I really don't like - my least favorite is not drinking while or after eating.  That just about kills me.  I have considered carrying an egg timer with me to count off the hour after so I can start drinking again.  :)  But am dealing with continuing to be a clock watcher.  And I still haven't found a palatable source of protein, but am suffering through the one that I can somewhat deal with because I know how important it is.  Other than that, I've had a horrible dry mouth, which I think is partly because I've been mouth breathing my cpap (I have only a nasal mask) and partly because I need to work on getting in more fluids other than my sources of protein.  I've found that I LOVE the taste of plain Lactaid milk.  It's so soothing.  I used to only have it with cereal, because Lactaid milk tastes kinda weird, but now it seems to be my favorite drink of choice when I'm trying to get a few extra ounces of fluid in.  Speaking of...I'm going to get some now! I hope everyone had a wonderful day and is doing well.  I'm relieved that I only have two more days until the weekend and this wasn't a 5-day work week.  I know I'll need the breather by the time Saturday gets here. HUGGLES everyone!

Lauren.... I LOVE the new pic.  It looks more like the person on the board...very sweet. Glad you had a good day today.  Keep up the great work.  Just make sure that you take time to rest.  Your body is still recovering. The egg timer is actually a cool idea.  I am a clock watcher - haha. In case we do not chat...have a great weekend!

Good am! So glad things are going well for you! I love your sense of humor. It truly makes me smile & you HAVE to have one anymore to sometimes get through the day. Its seeing the positives when things are kinda neggie. Ahhhh yes the lovely don't eat when we drink deal. Man that was a bummer initially. You do get used to it cause it only takes a couple times before you do it once or twice out of habit and you will not be peachy.  It was rocky finding protein in the beggining I could deal with. NO powders did I care & still don't. Have tried many different liquids but finally have settled on AchievOnes.  Dry mouth from your CPAP is a definite culprit!! I DONT miss that! A couple of things you can do to help with this is to put on some chapstick on your lips and even better is Vaseline right under your nose and on it. It does help some. I wish they made them more like vaporizers with the water to put some moisture into you as well.  Grand with the milk. I cannot tolerate any of it well but will have skim now & then.  Take care of yourself & CONGRATS on your weight loss so far, hope your appointment goes great & work is wonderful. Take your break on Saturday! All best.....

Going back to work can definitely be an adjustment as you work out your schedule and get your body back on track.  Congrats on a successful day.  Can't wait to hear about your follow up appointment.  Not drinking while eating is difficult.  You will eventually get somewhat used to it.  If your dr. allows gum (sugar free mint if not) I found that it helps to pop one in right after eating to help with the immediate need for a drink.  As for your dry mouth, you may need to adjust your settings for the cpap after losing 60 lbs. check with your dr. about this at your appointment.  Enjoy your Lactaid milk and have a great day.
