And One More - Daily Inspiration - Accept Success

Ok...this will put us on track for the week, but this one was perfect, also........

Accept success.

Accepting and embracing your new lifestyle will be the key to overcoming your obesity. To foster an attitude of acceptance, focus on where you are now, and what you can eat now. Rejoice in the quality of food you eat, not the quantity. Recognize that every day you follow your plan is a victory to celebrate.

The WLS journey is challenging, especially when you resist the lifestyle you know you must accept to succeed. Release the chains of doubt, defiance, desire, and regret. The world looks better when you see it from a fresh perspective -- the perspective of acceptance.

Action for the day: Whenever you feel resistance to your program, say to yourself, "I chose this new life. It is a gift I have given to myself and I'm going to make the most of it."

Hey, beautiful question do you know a web site that would tell how many calories a person needs a day. I am thinking about 1200 to 1800 a day. i am lucky to get in 1200 yesterday and i do not know if that is right or not.  Any help is appreciated.

From what I have come across, it should be individualized based on your activity level, your weight, if you want to maintain or lose, etc. From what I've read, we should be about 1200.  But, because I'm so active, my nut. told me about 1400.  But, you also have to look at the carbs and fats, too. Many weightloss programs have a typical person at about 1200 calories to lose weight.

Post this question over at the nutrition board.  Their are dieticians over there who can help.

If you go to FitDay.com and create your account, giving height and weight (not sure if they include age - they should because that matters, too), not only can you enter your food intake, but you can enter your exercise (calories burned).  On that tab (I think it's called Activities), at the top center you will see your basal metabolic rate - how many calories your body burns just breathing.  They also add up the calories you burn just from assumed routine activities - I guess like brushing your teeth and petting the dog.  Then if you enter your exercise it will calculate calories burned from that too.  It adds the basal metabolic rate, your routine activities and exercise to give you a total calories burned.  You have to take in less than this amount of calories to lose weight - 3500 less to lose a pound. Keep in mind that it does not account for the quirks of our bodies, such as water retention from hormonal variances and from types of food or the starvation syndrome - all things that keep us from seeing a pound lost for every 3500 calorie deficit.  Plus your basal metabolic rate changes as your weight changes so what worked yesterday may not work next month if you lose or gain weight. However, it does give you a pretty good idea of how many calories you can eat and still lose weight - sort of. Recently I'm seeing that anything over 1200 calories and I will not lose even though my basal metabolic rate is supposed to be 1400 calories. Sorry for the math and science lesson!
