Ummm I have a question... could be TMI

Ok, since I love ya'll and no question is a dumb question... I needed to go to my faithful friends on the VA Board.... ummm I can't believe Im going to ask this, but its been on my brain all day long! So When you go to the potty #2 and have  BM... I know things have changed due to the RNY, but its been.. umm.. green lately.. is that normal??  I read on the web taht is due to things not being absorbed (which I am fine with) I just need to make sure that its kosher for us WLS folks. Thanks in advance for dealing with this potentially sensative topic. Amanda

I have not had the surgery yet but am very interested in finding out.  My 5 year old has the same problem on occasion.  He however was a preemie and is on Resource 3x a day to extra calories 1000 a day because he acid reflux bad and has malnutrition. Marion

Amanda, My poo was green for a while fairly early after surgery. My nutritionist said it was normal. The things we share... Joe

Hi Amanda, Since this is such a squimish topic I'll get straight to the point. Anything exept black tarry stool or an oviously redbloody stool is fairly normal from what my doctor said. Pam

 

Yep, normal.  Also expect it to be very soft for awhile especially while you are on soft/pureed foods.  It will eventually start getting more normal.

There is nothing that can't be asked here!   I had various shades of evergreen. for about 6 weeks 

Ummmm...I'm so glad that someone asked that!!! I was wondering the same thing!!!

Since we are indelicate here not only is it a rainbow of colors but it is like a shrapnel charge because it flies everywhere during the leaving the ship process. We are all in a special place. :)
