OT: 3 Day Breast Cancer Walk

Ok, so I'm considering participating in the 3-day breast cancer walk but I have a dilemma.  Any person that signs up must raise $2200 by the time of the event (which in my case is Oct in DC).  And even if a team is formed, it's STILL $2200 PER PARTICIPANT, team or no team. In order for me to raise that kind of cash, I would have to rely on you all, family & friends & fellow reenactors.  The donations are tax deductible &  appparently there is a website that would be assigned to me where donations could be made over the internet, rather than by cash in hand. So, I guess what I am asking is how many of you would be willing to support me in this...not just our usual "go-for-it" kind of support, but by making donations?  I will not commit myself to this if I don't feel like I can raise the money required. I do, indeed, have someone in mind that I would be walking for.  My sister is a breast cancer survivor so it would be in her name that I would do this.  I guess all I can do now is wait & see what sort of response I get from ya'll as well as the other groups I mentioned.  You can respond here, I suppose or if you prefer anonimity, send me a PM.  At any rate, I look forward to hearing what ya'll have to say.  Thanks gang!

Hugs!

I had considered doing this myself, until I saw how much money I had to raise in order to participate.  while it's for a good cause, it's a challenge.

I'd be willing to throw ya a few bucks!!!

Were you surprised by that too?  I mean, like you said, it's definately for a good cause, but jeez..  BUT, I have one vote yes, so thanks so much Jill.  I'm going to a cw meeting this weekend so I can bring this up there too & see what sort of response I get. Hey, if it's meant to be, it'll happen, right?  *smile*

Ann - Don't be scared off by the $2200 buckers.  I ran the Honolulu Marathon and raised money for The Whitman Walker clinic..Goal to get to Hawaii $3400, I raised over 5000. You can have yard sales (get a bunch of neighbors together) A friend of mine sells Mary Kay and she sold some and gave all proceeds to the charity Family and Friends are always so supportive and willing to donate to a good cause and to support you.  It just a little awkward getting the money together. Some people had Happy Hours and the local bars would do special drinks etc etc and charge a cover at the door and the money would go to the cause. Some people left boxes at starbucks, ofcourse you  have to talk to management. With your renactment stuff, is there something you could put together to host in the name of? Or use your party planning skills and put together a party with dunking for apples (ok not really but something like that) or dance with Anne for a dollar... and its all in the name of charity! Its fun to be creative!  However I TRULY DO know the dimea of asking fo rmoney, (FO!? LOL), Having that number looming and being obligated.   Don't fret! ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE!!!! Amanda
