Six Month Visit

Went for my six month check-up. No weight loss in the last three months, but no gain either. All of my blood work was normal. Protein, B-12, Lipids, liver enzymes, kidney function, everything. And without any diabetes meds my A1C was 6.5. Hard to believe.  I know why I have not lost anymore weight. Leaving for work between 6:00 and 6:30 AM and getting home at 7:30 - 8:00 PM, doesn't allow much time to exercise. I also got into eatting Planters chocolate and nuts trail mix during my two hour commute to work. It's protein right? LOL Lots of stress from driving up I-95 each day along with not knowing if I will have a job after February. Also learning that nothing makes me dump. What a curse. So, I've realized my mistakes and I've stopped eatting in the car, jus****er. I'm spending more time walking around the hospital meeting with customers and staff. I think I'll be OK now.

Yeh pretty dumb, huh. It's amazing what you can rationalize when you want something bad enough.

Hey Michael we all make mistakes when I used to cmmute a hour one way to work and smoked heck I was smoking a 1/2 a pack before I got to work and a 1/2 a pack at work and 1/2 coming home and God knows how many then after  so its tough we learn to  shove things in our mouths. You know what you were doing wrong  you fix it snack on healthier things carrots, celery sticks, maybe and apple something you know you can have. But we just have to have something to  do something with our hands, is what I find the problem. But pushing the water is a good  choice as well. Great news on the visit. And keep up the walking around at the hospital. Dont be bumed about the no weightloss, just shoot for this month being a different  change. Make a goal and go for it... Best of luck have a great weekend....

Well you are on the road to fixing your mistakes.  Aren't we all.  Can I just add my two cents in here?  Thanks!  You could be in a plateau.  You lost a lot of weight there in the beginning and your body could be adjusting.  Now admittedly you are making some not so good choices but you can turn them around to jump start your body.  Since you do have such a long day, your body may need that extra food fuel, don't necessarily cut out your commuting snack, just make it a better choice.  As Joe suggested, maybe a protein bar or shake for your ride or nuts without the chocolate, just pre bag them into a serving amount so you don't over do it.  Exercise is definitely a key, harder to do during these cold, dark months.  Keep up the good work & use your tool.

Thanks for the encouragement from everyone.  I realized today that the problem is that food became my driving partner. I would look forward to the commute so I could eat whatever I wanted with no one to give me any grief. The people at the 7-11 didn't make me feel guilty for buying the big bag of any snack they offered. And it kept me occupied and helped keep me awake. I think just knowing this helps me to make a better choice.

Hi there, sometimes we falter but hey that we realize our mistakes and begin making better choices is what makes life so great. The line of thinking that others weren't giving you grief is often times thought & felt by us all in my opinion. For so long, it was incredibly hard to go out to eat, eat at home, eat in general because friends/family would ask "can you eat that?" "should you eat that?" and more. Honestly, at times I am STILL thankful they get on me about certain things but back then when I was so new to things it bugged me! I hope you continue to forge through all the bumps on your journey with finesse and its kewl to give ourselves a break now & then as long as we regroup and do right by us! All best.....
