New study on WLS ad diabetes
http://health.yahoo.com/news/ap/diabetes_obesity_surgery.htm l
Check it out...finally some good press on the subject :)
I was a severe diabetic prior to surgery . I have not had insulin or glucophage since the night of surgery .
Duke did a study as well . They seem to think that the part of the stomach that gets the glucose moving is moved when the new pouch is made .
I do not care what happend .. all I know is that my Diabetes is in remission .Does not mean it cannot come back , once a diabetic always one .. that is why I still watch my carbs and sugar ..
This surgery .. saved my life no doubt !!

Good pm Brandi,
Good read. I've read a few others like it & its wonderful how far we've come in medicine and how much weight loss truly helps us with our health & I'm really grateful for the information.
Have a wonderful evening!

I was on so much diabetic medication prior to surgery - I even took insulin every night! The day of surgery I took my last diabetic medication and have never taken any since - I have no issues to date but am aware I will always have to be careful and watchful but I am so grateful for this opportunity to not have the disease any more .........
