Approved, Date Set

Hi all,  I've lurked and participated on and off on this board for a couple years.  I had been stalled by some life changes and of course taking that one last shot at losing the weight myself before finally getting in gear and getting ready to pursure WLS.  I'm approved and set for surgery on March 11.  I am pretty sure I'm having the VBGwith sleeve.  Nervous, excited and ready to begin my life again with a real shot at getting healthy and more active!

Welcome to the VA board, officially. Now that you aren't lurking anymore. Congrats on the date. Hold on for the ride of your life. If you need anything, just ask. The VA board is the best.

I just got approved also. No date set, still have to do my psych and nut visit on Feb 12. Congratulations.

Congratulations on getting approved. I think we all had curveballs thrown at us a one time or another - and we also all hoped we could do this  and lose the weight without surgery  - but the truth is- we just couldn't........ March the 11th is really not that far away and with preop stuff it will all pass very quickly. In the meantime,  may I suggest that while you are waiting, you take this opportnity to read up as much as you can about the after effects of this surgery, bake and freeze some meals for your family if needed, start taking vitamins to prepare your body for surgery, try and select some protein that you can take after surgery and practise not drinking with your meals. If you can get onto some good habits now, it won't be so hard to follow them after surgery... Good luck and ask us anything you want to know........ we are here to help and support you! Jackie
