Big Game Ideas

In one week, many of us will be with our family and friends watching the big game.  In out past lives, this type of get together was like having Christamss all over again....a foodfest of sorts. So...now that we are on the path to good health, how do we partake without feeling different or left out?  We certainly can't stay home - this for many is a part of life.  So, how do you plan to get through it? Me?  The Superbowl is a big event, and even bigger since the Pat's are going again (my son is a Pat's fan...the bandwagoneer - haha).  I know that there will be lots of fried this and fried that, popcorn, nachos and chips.  So...what am I suppose to eat? I am bringing a pot of chili with shredded cheese.  I'm making it so I can use ground turkey, and low fat cheese. I am also making cornbread from the box - using egg beaters and skim milk to limit the fat.  I'm not having the corn bread, but it doesn't have to be all fat laden, either. I am also bringing a veggie plate and some fruit. So...what are your ideas for the Big Game???? _______________________________________________ Other ideas...... Chicken Sataay w/ spicey peanut dipping sauce Buffalo Wings (use chicken tendors to reduce fat) Shrimp ****tail Fruit kabobs w/ yogurt dip Cheese platter

I too will be making a dish that is pouch friendly. But my friends that I get together with all do a little something for me too. Like my one girl friend always makes a SF dessert and someone else will do veggie platter or fruit. I have an awesome support group here in my neighborhood.

Oh - how fun!!!  I just LOVE NOLA.  Many...MANY...good times on Bourbon street.  Just keep your a*s off of the road...it's really dirty (I'll NEVER tell! haha). You will LOVE Emerils.  We went there in Vegas and it was really great! have fun!

A fave of mine is edamame -- fresh soybeans in the shell.  You can find them in the freezer section.  Just pop them in the micro a couple minutes, drain and sprinkle w/coarse salt.  To eat them, put the entire pod in between your teeth, length-wise, and pull it out.  Your teeth squeeze the beans out of the pod.  (Toss the pod)  They are like eating popcorn, to me, but far healthier.  Yes, the have some fat, but it is GOOD fat, and LOADS of protein, fiber -- all those healthy things.  And they taste good, to boot.
