I have a lap band and I can't do melted cheese. As long as it isn't melted I do just fine...although I try to avoid it due to the fat.

Who can tolerate cheese? ME ME ME ME !!
I have been eating cheese since I was cleared to eat it .
I love it ! .. So good for us ..
It all depends .. some cheeses have more fats then others .
I for one love all Blue cheeses .Brie .. ( w Honey .. OMG )
. Chedars .. White .. Parms .. you name it ..
How was your cheese fixed ?? Just cheese .. or was it cooked ..
One should stay away from processed cheeses like cheese for Nachos .. these have a terrible high fat content .. and some even have sugar in them . So stay away ..
if you want some cheese recipes .. let me know ...

I do fine with all cheeses...but early out some of them gave my new tummy fits (I swore I'd never eat another slice of american cheese again....but amazingly, it snuck in one day and I'm fine with it now).
Remember.....trial and error period. Somedays it works, other days it won't.

Hi Amanda,
I have been eating cheese since I went back onto solid foods after WLS. Thanks goodness - one of my big fears with the surgery was that I would be intolerant to dairy foods (I had heard that a lot with my support group). I have always been a dairy food junkie, especially with cheese! I don't eat a lot of meat and no fish, so the cheese has been a good source of protein for me.
I enjoy all kinds, but try to keep the fat content in mind. My favorites are:
- ounce portions of whole-milk mozzerella cheese (part skim is fine, but the whole-milk is very creamy and does not add a substantial amount of fat)
- ounce portions of low fat cheddar cheese
- feta or blue cheese sprinkled sparingly on salad
- sometimes I have a slice of deli cheese rolled up with a slice of ham. The deli cheese is very high in fat, though, so I go easy with that.
- parm or romano cheese sprinkled on salad or soup
- my standby is cottage cheese mixed with ricotta and Splenda (1/2 cup cc to 1/4 cup ricotta). It is super good with protein crackers or whole wheat toast and packs a protein punch!
Good luck finding something that agrees with you. It really is trial and error and don't think that if something doesn't "work" the first time that it won't be okay the next time.

No cheese problems here, going in or coming out, lol. As some said, you are early out & it is trial & error with some things. What you can't do today may work great next week. Could your issues be lactose intolerant related. Are you having issues with other dairy products? Could it be gall bladder related? When my gall bladder went out I reacted to most dairy products, especially those that were not low fat.
