Daily Inspiration - Embrace your Shar-pei look.

Embrace your Shar-pei look.

As the pounds melt away, your skin may get a bit droopy. Just like the Shar-pei dogs with the many folds of sagging skin, you too will be lovable, soft, and healthy. Your loose skin may tighten up in time, or you may choose to have it surgically helped along.

Yet, is it not better to have the sagging skin, proud scars of your battle, than to be sick? Would you trade that skin for diabetes, sleep apnea, high blood pressure, heart disease, cancer risks, breathlessness, and immobility? Resolve not to be distressed by loose skin. It is only on the outside. Inside you are healthier, happier, and still you. Acknowledge the sagging skin as a positive change, for it is an indicator that WLS is working for you. You are fulfilling your commitment to yourself.

Action for the day: Make a list of the things you can do now, that you could not do before you had weight loss surgery.

This is so profound for me . A couple years ago , I had braced this Shar-Pei self I had left over after WLS . And had and still do . I was fortunate to get PS ..thanks to my Hubby .. But I felt still , so blessed to have the weight gone .. to be healthy .. to be able to run , to not be out of breath .  This is so true ..  Nat

AMEN!  I cannot look forward to PS at this point in my life and keep telling myself that with clothes on I no longer scare little children plus I feel better.  So there! But I do think back to the day when I thought my mother's bathing suit was kinked in the back, but when I reached to straighten it I realized it was her wrinkly skin! Of course I never mentioned it to her. And this was a woman who was NEVER overwweight, had the metabolism of a humming bird and never had to watch her diet!  So some of my wrinkles are just genetic and it's better than the alternative!

The only  PS I really want when I'm all done losing is a BL. I need the girls back where they used to be! My wrinkles and loose skin reminds me just how far I have come.
