Question
I have not had my surgery yet but will hopefully have it here in the next few months. The # is 689 and my # is 704. But anyway. Here is the question. My calves hurt when ever there is any preasure on them I have had tests to make sure everything is ok. Was wondering what I can do? I know when I have the surgery they will put those compression things on my calves and I know I will go nuts. What can I do? Any suggestions? Gwen
Hi Gwen,
I had surgery with Dr. Mann June 2007. He and Dr. Catania are such great docs. They both have a warm personality and are humorous.
As far as the compression thingy's...you may not feel them with the PCA (pain pump). I think they came off too when I began walking.( That part is a bit fuzzy!)
Do you have restless leg syndrome? I was thinking maybe the medicine, I think its called Lyrica would help. You could talk to your PCP as well as the surgeons.
Your time is coming up really quickly- wishing you all the best!
Hi Gwen....
Congrats to you...you are almost there!
Oh my day of surgery, my calves and feet hurt SO bad. But...the compression socks were constantly massaging them so that was the 1st thing I noticed right out of surgery - they didn't hurt. So, maybe you will have the same experience.
Good luck and keep us posted!

I also have the same feeling in my calves especially when going for the pedicures. I can't figure it out, but am assuming it is from the excess weight on that area. I haven't had any problems with surgery though back in July when I had a parotid gland tumor removed in my neck. It was a very long surgery, and when I woke up the compression thingy's were on my legs. It actually felt great! It was good to know it wasn't a bloodclot or just "poor" circulation as it didn't cause any further complications. Hopefully, we will see a difference once we are "skinnier".
I am waiting on my insurance to give me the green light for the VGB with Sleeve. Hopefully in March I will have this done...........best of luck..........try to not worry about the legs!
