So I watched the Biggest Loser tonight, getting caught up on the past couple of weeks.  Even though the black team was working their butts off in the gym, they're losses on the scale was terrible.  My first thought was what the heck are they eating...or NOT eating?  I was rather pleased with myself to find out that my question was right on the money when their trainer, Jillian, came up with the same idea.  So I know that  you need to increase your intake of food & water when you work out, but is there some sort of formula to go by?  How do I figure out how much to eat, depending on how much I work out? (Daaaang...pretty good question, huh? LOL)

Hugs!
Ann

Well...as soon as you figure it out...let me know.  That's my great battle right now..... My nut told me to increse my carbs, and it has really been a struggle - I'm constantly eating.  BUT...for example...I burned over 90 carbs and 550 calories in my run and boxing.  When you only take in 75 - 85 carbs, you are fueling your body in a deficiet.  See my issue???? It's a balancing act.....

Yeah, I remember you posting a few weeks ago about this very subject.  I also remember how stressed you were.  Has that improved much for you yet?  Have you found a happy medium? Now, my recumbent bike will show me not only how many overall calories I'm burning, but it also flashes fat calories.  Which is more important?  Which should I be concentrating on more?  I'm guessing the fat cals.  Is that correct? I'll tell ya what...I REALLY need to stop procrastinating & get into some sort of REAL workout program.  No, I still haven't addressed the Curves issue yet...somebody smack my hand or something.  The only machine I have to work with is my bike and I prefer that right now because it monitors my heart rate as I'm riding, which is really important in my case because of the defibrillator I have in my chest.  I WANT to work out & I know I NEED to work out, but honestly I become afraid because I don't wanna get zapped.  I'm funny that way.  Electrical shocks are just not so much fun, ya know? Ahhh, I'm just feeling frustrated.  I guess I better make some phone calls tomorrow & see if I can get a prescription from my cardiologist to go to the cardio workouts at the hospital.  I'd just feel so much safer there than at a gym.  At least if I code, I'd be in the right place already.  Boy!  The things we go through to get healthy, & here I am scared it's gonna kill me...LITTERALLY!  Who'da thunk it? LOL BTW, how's your son?  Is he still stateside?  And what did he think of his hot lookin' mama?  I bet he was soooo proud of you.

Hugs!

Morning..... Actually (and I hate to burst your bubble), but you really cannot track calories OR fat calories on your bike, as often times out fitness equipment is inaccurate.  I know...it's a bite in the rear to know that - how else are we suppose to monitor this stuff.  In your situation, I would just track it my time and intesity/heart rate.  Make sure that you up to your cardio heart rate - that will be the best for your body.  And the act of moving will help with the pounds. As you already know...consistency is key.  BUT...make sure that you incorporate muscle building workouts into your plan.  Muscle weights more, but burns a heck of alot more, too.  Which is GREAT for getting rid of the pounds. Now...once you become much more active, I recommend using a heart rate monitor.  It will allow you to track your actual calories as well.  But, for now...don't overwhelm yourself with all of that....just move around. It's a balancing act - that's for sure.  I've been forced to really look at foods differently.  Especially carbs.  It's ok....I've made some decent finds...I just suffer from the gas that would knock a cow over - haha.  Something that only happened if I ate a bad carb.  NOW...I get it because of all of the carbs that I eat....UGH!

Hey pretty lady!  Love the new pic!!!!!! So I can't really answer you as I am bad and don't track any of this.  I probably should and it would help me long term but I just don't really know where to begin.  I pretty much just stick with my rules of protien, fruit & veggies, with a little bit of carbs (due to my low blood sugar issue & per my nut.) and don't really count anything.  Maybe make an appointment or phone call to you nut.  :)

Yep seeing a beautiful new pic here.  To see it on your computer, go to the control panel, go to internet options, clear your history, temporary internet files & cookies and then get back on OH.  Should be able to see your new pic then.

If you figure this out let me know. I thought that was sooooo interesting last night. In my mind, I just can't comprehend it. I've always been taught, eat less, burn more calories. Makes sense to me, but guess thats not necessarily true. Obviously, I have not had surgery yet (but I have been approved and have my phsych and nut appt. Tuesday). So I guess I should not worry too much for now.  Thanks, Penny
