I know that Oprah's shows are still re-runs due to the writers strike, but I'm glad they re-ran yesterday's, & I took notes.  So, to take years off our looks & bodies, here's what Dr. Oz recommends: Foods that should be in our fridge: (5 servings per day) - fresh blue berries, 5 fistfuls per day, mix with yogurt for a tasty, healty breakfast - sweet taters - broccoli - fresh tomatoes; he recommended heating them & drizzle with olive oil for a nice side dish with our protein - acai fruit All of the above are rich with antioxidants. Beverages: - green tea or even better white tea, 4 cups daily - red wine, 1 glass per day Spices: - cinnamon     - ginger     - curry     - garlic     - paprika     - rosemary Good Fibre sources: - steel-cut oat meat (an audience member suggested cooking the oatmeal in a crock pot using apple juice instead of water...that sounds yummy!) -  brown rice                  - 100% whole grain breads - beans, particularly kidney beans & lentils              - chia grains Omega-3: - flax seed (Even Oprah didn't know that you have to grind the seed to reap the benefits. Grinding releases the beneficial oils) - walnuts - spirulina algae  (Dr. Oz made guacamole with this stuff) - Olive oil  (he says to apply the oil to the foods first, then saute.  To heat it in the skillet first ruins the oil.) - seaweed  (note from me...used for wrapping rice-filled sushi...yummm) Exercise: - yoga - meditation (even just 5 minutes per day makes a difference) - work out till you reach optimum heart rate.  Formula for figuring what this is for YOU...220, minus your age, times .80.  Sustain that rate for at least 20 minutes 3 times per week minimum - suggested floor exercises...lunges, leg lifts, pull-up...don't forget to do 5 minutes of warm-up first In the Bedroom: - at least 7 to 8 hours of sleep - sex 2 to 3 times per week Vitamins that should be taken on a daily basis: - D...1,000 units - Calcium with magnesium (the magnesium takes away the constipation & gas) - DHA Omega 3 capsules - Multi-vitamin with iron for pre-menopausal, with A for post-menopausal.  Also, he says to break it in half & take half in the AM, half in the PM - 2 baby aspirin If you want more details about what I've posted & so much more, just go to Oprah.com & check it out.  Dr. Oz is the bomb!!

Hugs!
