Tomatoes can be troublesome for us RNYers, not sure about the lapbanders.  I'll tell you what I told tobehealthyagn when she was having the same problem....stay away from them for now and chat with your doc. Have you checked out the lapband board???? Good Luck.....

I referred you to her, because she is the only lapbander that I know of on this board.  The rest of us are RNYers, so I figured she could point you int he right direction. If the lapband board isn;t working for you, you might also try the Main board for help, too.

Not too many lap banders here so we have different rules than you do.  Definitely check with Ann, CWMOM, she is a bander.  Welcome to the board.

Jill,      Why are tomatoes so troublesome for us (gastric bypass 1/9)? I have had a terrible time, cannot even eat any of the lean cuisines that have tomaote sauce. Is it due to the acid? This really limits a lot of the foods and will it be this way with all things spicy or just the tomatoes? Thanks, Crystal

Crystal, Im not sure how far out you are, but in the begining I had trouble with tomato products. Im gastric 10/05 and now I can tolerate these things in moderation. I think some try things to early out, so what you cant tolerate now you might be able to tolerate later.

Yep...the acid in them can be bothersome.  Remember...your new pouch is like that of a baby's, so give it the kinds of things you would give your baby when starting out - especially while it is healing....

Thanks to you Jill and Prissy. What you said makes total sense. I am not but a month out. January 9th to be exact. It is nice to know that one day I will be able to tolerate tomatoes again. Anything else (foodwise) that threw you for a loop so I can leave that off for awhile? Thanks again for your help, Crystal
