I am going in next week for my final appt with the surgeon.  This is the day that he will schedule my pre-op and the surgery.  Looks like it is going to be beginning of March so just around the corner.   Since I have seen nothing but niceness and helpfulness here, I thought I'd come to ya'll.  What I am looking for is any advice on what to mention to the surgeon, and any last minute questions to ask.  I have read tons of posts on here, some from evn way back and done tons of research at the library and online.  I just want to make sure I cover every basis.  So anything you could help me with, I'd appreciate so much!  Thanks Hugs, Theresa

Hi Theresa, 1st you pick a great Doctor, he is so nice and he takes all the time you need to answer question, he may keep you waiting but that's because he does give everyone what ever time they need. I can't think of any questions for you to ask, not knowing you makes it hard. but reading you screen name if your a mom with young children then I would ask how long before you can lift them etc.  You will need help for sure just don't know how long. What kind of surgery are you having? I had lap rny with Dr Martin who is no longer there and now I see DR. B  he had to do surgery on for a brockage just this past  August.  Well Good Luck and keep us posted. Jackie

Hey Theresa!  Look over all your notes again, see if  anything pops out that you want more info on.  Get your lifting/activity guidelines, vitamin info, diet info, etc.  It may all seem overwhelming once it starts to get closer but remember you have a great team with your doctor & support from all of us here.

Morning Theresa -  Yeah for you....almost there!   As for the doc appointment, just be an informed consumer.  Ask him to explain the type of procedure, how long you will be in, his expectations afterwards, activity guidelines, diet/nutrition, vitamins, support group info (if there is one), prepartion guide, etc. Remember - as nervous as you will get, this is a GREAT time in your life.  It's the opportunity to change yourself.  It's an adventure - take a deep breath and enjoy the ride!

Good am Theresa, The ladies before me have all given great advice. Commonwealth Surgeon's has updated their informational booklet & I am hoping you've already gotten a copy. If not, I wanted to pass along that it's very informative & furthermore, they offer several different support groups (1 on each Thurs. & 1 on the 2nd Mon of each month). I think that if there are any lingering concerns you have you might jot those down and mention them no matter how big or small. Also, leaning on us & others you know who've had surgery is a wonderful way to learn & get encouragement & understanding. All best....
