Good morning  everyone this came in my email this morning and we all eat salads out so I thought this would be good information to post for you all: Hope all have a great day and be safe and be sure to tell that someone you havent told you love them and even if you have tell them again..... Hugs......   Hungry Girl Today: 09.14.06 WEEKLY WEIGH-IN Ready to be shocked and horrified by some salad stats? Check out these alarming nutritionals and beware... A Chili's Nightmare... Next time you're at Chili's, don't think you're doing yourself any favors by ordering a Chicken Caesar. That nasty excuse for a salad squeezes in 1,010 calories and 76 grams of fat. And that's without the crackers. You'd be better off with the Guiltless Grill Chicken Platter. It's more filling, and it has a more reasonable 580 calories and 9 grams of fat. Replace the rice with some salad greens to save around 200 calories! Applebee's Alert!!!! Craving steak at the 'Bees? You'd be a fool to request their Steakhouse Salad. They're pretty hush-hush about the nutritional details of this salad, but their last stab at a steak salad, the Grilled Steak Caesar, had 1,191 ridiculous calories and over 75 grams of fat. Yikes! Instead of a steak salad, grab yourself an order of Teriyaki Steak and Shrimp Skewers. Those tasty sticks only have 370 calories and 7 grams of fat. Not bad! BTW, if you really want a salad there, go for the Grilled Shrimp Skewer Salad. Even if you have the dressing, you'll take in only 210 calories and 2 grams of fat. Costco'll Cost Ya... Feeling faint at Costco? Don't scarf down a Chicken Caesar there. That thing contains 756 calories and an alarming 61 grams of fat. Holy moly! Even their BBQ pork sandwich has only 306 calories and 9.5 grams of fat. Your best bet might be to grab yourself a serving of their nonfat vanilla frozen yogurt. That stuff is fat-free and only has about 24 calories per ounce. A small serving of that should keep you satisfied long enough to finish your shopping and head home for a sensible meal. Mexican Madness! Check out the alarming stats on these taco salad fiascos (stats include all the fixins')... Taco Bell Fiesta Taco Salad w/Spicy Avocado Ranch Dressing - 910 calories, 53g fat Wendy's Garden Sensations, Southwest Taco Salad w/Ancho Chipotle Ranch Dressing - 680 calories, 39g fat Steak 'n Shake Grilled Chicken Taco Salad w/Light Ranch Dressing - 1,082 calories, 82g fat On The Border Grande Beef Taco Salad, w/Ranch Dressing - 1,670 calories, 125g fat (EEEEKS!) **HG Tip: If you NEED a taco salad, stick with chicken and avoid tortilla bowls, tortilla strips, guacamole, sour cream and cheese. And substitute salsa for dressing! HG NIGHTMARE...RUN SCREAMING FROM THESE SALADS!!!! If you happen to live in California, Nevada or Arizona (or plan to visit there soon) and find yourself at an Islands restaurant, avoid the Kaanapali Kobb salad if it's the last thing you ever do. That monstrosity has 1,520 calories and 116 grams of fat! Their China Coast salad has 1,130 calories and 73 grams of fat! Their Wiqui Waqui BBQ Chicken Salad seems like a calorie bargain at just 960 and 53 grams of fat *** just kidding). Are we the only ones who think salad stats like these should be illegal? Salad-y Standouts! We like these. Just remember to read dressing packets carefully... McDonald's Asian Salad With Grilled Chicken, no dressing - 300 calories, 10g fat Denny's Fit Fare Grilled Chicken Breast Salad, no dressing - 320 calories, 13g fat Subway Turkey Breast Salad, no dressing or croutons - 110 calories, 2.5g fat Burger King Tendergrill Chicken Garden Salad, no dressing or croutons - 240 calories, 9g fat -- CHEW ON THIS: Remember, September is Better Breakfast Month. Check out these fun b-fast recipes from HG! http://hungry-girl.com/week/weeklydetails.php?isid=528 Share this salad shocker email with people who eat salads...

Very good post, Melinda...quite informative. If ya'll notice, most of the baddies were the Cesaer salads.  I'll bet the majority of it was due to the dressing, with the grated parmesan & croutons added. If ya'll don't know this trick already, have dressing brought to you on the side.  Then dip your fork tines into the dressing and THEN stabbed your greens.  If you're like me, I USED to like a little salad with my dressing...lol.  I've of coure modified that quite a bit. Great post!!!!

Hugs!
Ann

I have been eating Wendy's BLT Salad since I was 6 months post op . I use the Oriental Ginger Salad Dressing ... For months I would buy 3 or 4 at a time and keep them ready to eat . Was all I could eat for a long time .  I always eat the salad dressing on the side .. but if not for these wonderful salads , I do not know what I would do ..  Keep in mind too that RNY patients do not absorb all that we eat ..  Salads to me are a much better alternative than candy , cookies , fatening sandwiches and such ..  It is what you put on them and what type of dressings you use ...  As with anything .. Moderation ..  Tink Edited to change WLS to RNY
