Hernia repair

Help! I have an incisional hernia in the abdomonal wall that is pretty pronounced. Last night when I laid down to sleep I felt and heard a sharp pop in the hernia area. There was some pain then. Now there is more discomfort than before the pop, especially after eating.I have an appointment with the surgeon in April. Should I consult my doctor about this?

Hi Melinda, Thank you for the reponse. Everyone whp responded, said the same thing. The hernia seems to have grown overnight and there is a weird taste in my mouth. I had one bowel obstruction...don't need another. I e-mailed Dr. Schirmer once, b ut never about health issues. I'll try it and see what he says. Thanks, Cindy

Hi Melinda, Dr. Schirmer e-mailed me back. He would see me on Tuesday if the pain continues. If I can't wait till then I'll go to the ER. I'll keep you posted. Peace, Cindy

Cindy, A hernia is nothing to mess with . I have had 12 of them - 11 pre WLS .. and one after . They can lead to bowl obstruction . Get to your surgeon asap !! Stop lifting anything . And if your bowel movements are causing straining .. I would look to using a stool softener if you can . But get to your surgeon . Tink

You should consult your surgeon about this - I had several incisional hernias that was not aware of but had them repaired when I had my lower body lift. But don't leave it until April if it is bothering you now......... Jackie
