Dr Elariny
Good am Dawn,
I'm not a patient of Dr. Elariny's but wanted to wish you the best with you upcoming surgery. I hope there are some other folks who have him as a surgeon and can shed some light for you. Enjoy!

Dawn, I sent you a message. I am having surgery with Dr. Oscar Chan hopefully on March 18th and that is one of his associates. Great team of doctors. Have heard nothing but great things including the latest Jan surgery on a co-worker by Dr. Elariny. I too am having the sleeve banding. Keep me posted or email me....
Thanks Blue,
Thus far, I am very happy with the office. I started this process a couple years ago with another doctor and just didn't have the same feeling. Everyone at his office has been very helpful! Good luck with your surgery. Hopefully we can cheer eachother on! Are you having the sleeve with lap band, or sleeve with that mesh banding?
Dr Elariny is my doctor. He did my VBG with sleeve on Jan 24, 2006, and revised that to a DS with Lap Band on Dec 5, 2006. I have lost +/- 275 pounds from my highest weight. He is ranked #2 in the world for number of DS's he has done, and has a zero mortality rate in initial bariatric surgeries.
That said, you MAY see him for all of 2 minutes the day of your surgery, and that will be that. Unless you have a specific appointment with him in his office, or some fluke, you won't see him after that. But he works magic in the OR.
JMHO, YMMV
Congratulations on your monumental weight loss and health gain! Every other doctor I've seen for pre requisites rave about Dr. Elariny. Dr Chan is supposed to be doing my EGD/Colonoscopy and I saw Dr. Williams when I went in for my consult with Dr. Elariny. :) May I ask why you had to have a revision from the vbg w/ sleeve? Thank you for your input (really assauging my fears!) It really makes a difference. this board rocks.
I had the VBG with sleeve as a pre-cursor to the planned DS. My BMI was too high to do the DS safely, but was the surgery I NEEDED for my style of eating. (I am a grazer). Adding the lap band to the DS was an insurance policy: to give me even more help when I get stalled and unable to lose more, but still need to lose -- and/or when I start that dreaded re-gain.
Hi There -
I am a patient of Dr E. I concur with everything that has been said. He is wonderful and if you have any real emergency, I promise you he is available and will not stop till your better. Dr Williams his fellow does alot of the intiial stuff and follow up and I really like him. Dr Chan is excellent as well. I have nothing but great feedback, feel free to PM me as I have actually been around Dr E for several years from a couple family memebers having surgery with him. He did my lap RNY on 12-14. Ive lost about 40 pounds.
His support staff Heather and Alex are awesome. Just be a little patient with the front office/desk clerk and don't be afraid to ask for and keep calling until you get what you need. They are a very busy office and if you are patient with them, I promise you after care will be SUPERB!
Dr E really does care about his patients, he is passionate about this stuff, as I have seen it first hand personally and when he had a bander issue he was consulting with Dr Williams on. He loves learning and I just can't say enough good things about it. Can you tell?
See you on the other side,
Amanda

Hi Amanda,
Thank you for your response about Dr. Elariny's office. My experience thus far has been very much the same. I spent quite a bit of time with Dr. Williams who pretty much talked me into a completely different surgery than the one I had planned. :) However, he was very kind and knowledgeable, and explained why it was best for me. I am thrilled to be having surgery with this office, I think I'm in good hands. It makes me feel more comfortable that you had family members who have also had surgery with him.
Congrats on losing 40 lbs and gaining health!
