Dance Dance Revolution
Okay, confession time. I am not an exerciser. I so WANT to be one... I fantasize about being "in my groove" and moving my body every day. Obviously, my weight was always a huge obstacle for me, since any physical movement was very painful. Well, I've lost all of my weight - am literally half the person that I was pre-surgery - and I STILL don't move enough! I don't know if I'm still mentally stuck with thinking that it will be uncomfortable or I will hate it. When I do get physical, I am amazed at how much easier it is and how good I feel. I read Jill's posts and keep telling myself that I just need to get out there and do SOMETHING.
So last night I tried Dance Dance Revolution (DDR) on my son's Playstation. My sister gave me this for my birthday 2 years ago and last night was the first time I tried it! My 14 year old son was SO excited to see me doing it (although I think he just wanted to show me up because he knows all the moves already). I tried it for about 30 minutes and it was very cool. There's a lot to get used to, but I can see this being a fun way to get some movement in. I'm going to try it again today before he gets home from school, so I can concentrate on learning the moves!
Has anyone else tried DDR? I'm sure others have had the same difficulty getting going with exercise. Does it help to just plunge in and not wait until you "want" to do it? Thanks!

Well, I did 45 minutes of DDR at lunchtime, which amounted to about 30 minutes of actual movement on the thing and... I had a LOT of fun! I am looking forward (yes, I actually typed those words) to doing some more of it later when my son gets home from school. I'm excited about the thought of having FUN while getting some exercise. This is the first time in quite a while that I have been excited about movement. Keep your fingers crossed for me!
