By Friday, I should be getting the call with my surgery date.  So to prepare myself, I thought I'd go ahead and try samples of things that I am going to be able to consume on the liquid diet during that period right after my surgery.  Figured I'd do it this way so that I could find a few things that I like in advance.  Soooo..... I am looking to all ya'll that have had the surgery, to just give me a few ideas of things that ya'll may have liked.  I am sure, with all the great people here, that I will be able to get tons of ideas.   Thanks in advance. Hugs, Theresa

2 things I have consistantly heard has been muscle milk and carnation instant breakfast. I have also heard Ensure and I tried that and LOVED it...but I think I may have got bad info or bought the wrong thing because it's loaded with sugar. Still waiting on clarification on that.... I have to get a few things for my liqiud diet stage as well but from what I understand ( I havent had my last instructional pre op yet ) the ALL liquid diet ends at home...you'll be on pureed foods and I have bought alot of canned chicken ( like tuna ) and also tuna and refried beans, apple sauce, cottage cheese and grit's! Keep us posted! Brandi~

Thanks so much for your advice Brandi!  Keep it up and I may end up being your OH stalker!!  Well the news of the liquid diet ending when you come home definitely has me a bit less nervous!  I have always wondered just how does a fat person survive on just liquids!  LOL!  That was my biggest fear, honestly.  I will just copy your shopping list and if ya get any more ideas, feel free to let me know.  I am so glad that I found this website.  I absolutely love it and adore the people on here!  Ya'll have made me feel so welcome! I my stalkers! lol I would think that you should receive some information packets from your docotor during one of your pre op's! If not, be sure to let us all know because (at least those of us who went to PNH for our surgery's) received a THICK booklet with TONS of info! Im sure we could scan any info you would need and email it to ya! But Im sure they will give you more info when you get closer! You can always ask too :) Brandi~

My dr said that when I come back for his diet class, that I should have most all my questions answered but, because I am so freaking out about this liquid diet thing, I wanted to just start trying different things.  Because of me not needing an approval process, I should know my dates by Friday.  After I get that info and go to the pre-op, I will definitely come to you and every one on here for last minute advice.  You are a doll for being so helpful!  Thanks so much! *Theresa*

Hi, Theresa: What I did was ordered samples from bariatriceating.com. There are some other companies that also offer samples...you might look around online to see. You might also think about going to Walmart, GNC and Vitamin Shoppe, pick up singles of the protein and try them out. It seems everyone has different ideas about what tastes good and works well for them, so don't be surprised if it takes some time to find out what works best for you. Best of luck! Cindy

I did sf fudgecicles and sf popscicles. I did lots of water of course. you definately need to get your protein in. I found AchievOne fro bumblebeecottage.com awesome. it is not thick, it's pre mixed and very easy to drink. I also did sf pudding and i think i did cottage cheese, just not right away. I wish you all the best.

You are so on. The best advice anyone ever gave me before surgery was to FIGURE OUT YOUR PROTEIN!! It is key to survival. Some people like the fruity options. I am a big Myoplex fan. It comes in chocolate, french vanilla, and mocha latte. I tend to float around for variety. It has 42g of protein in a 17.5 oz shake. I do half the shake in the morning and the other half when I get home from the gym.
