Daily Inspiration - Be a force for change--not a victim

Be a force for change--not a victim.

Are you frustrated with people and situations you want to change? Longing for the world to change to make things easier for you, won't help. The only way change occurs is if you take responsibility and make the effort (and have the courage) to do something different--despite what others may think or say.

To bring about the changes that support your WLS lifestyle, you can resolve to treat gatherings as opportunities to have fun and be social, rather than to eat. You can serve healthy foods when eating is a necessary part of an event. You can heighten awareness of healthy foods and portion sizes, and you can change your own environment to suit your needs. You can be a gentle and confident example who inspires others.

Action for the day: Resolve to be a force for change in the world. Make the choice to stick up for your own needs today.

My running is stinkin up the place.  I was at my best and just bough two new pair of shoes when I go the flu and missed 10 days.  Ran 25 miles in a week and got the flu again, spooted myself a few day after tha t  make sure I was virus free and got it again. Then I decidee to take off a couple of week to make sure I was healed and plan to get cranked again NLT 1 March because I'm registered for the UKROPS Monument Ave 10K April 5 in Richmond, the 1 year anniversary of my first ever race and 10K. So now its been 6 wks and I am getting mentally pysched to get going again. Do you have a specific race in mind? You coming this way and want a partner? I got no one up here that runs with me, try as I may.  I guess if i hit it at 0-Dark-hundred, some of these military types I work with might let me tag along but I haven't gottent to that point of being a morning person yet. Talk to me,....make me an offer I can't refuse.....

I hadn't heard about any of these,.. I use roadrunners, kale running, and active.com for sources. Maybe I need to find some with more local stuff. Info on the UKROPS Monumnent Ave 10K: http://www.sportsbackers.org/10kmainpage.htm How did you find out about the Ft Lee run.  I work on Ft Lee and hadn't heard about it!! Run the Crater will be trail run through the back side of Fort lee adjacent to the Battlefield National (Civil War) Park.  I love running on post due to the controlled traffic and courtesy of drivers and the roads have nice shoulders or wide sidewalks and some streets are even designated as troop exercise routes. The UKROPs is now a sanctioned event so it will be bigger than ever.  It was alot of fun last year. 25,000 were registerd and 20,500 actually ran/finished.  This year there are already 25000 registered but they are taking 30,000 before they close registration. Let me know if you come.  I'd certainly be proud to chase you if I can keep up.

Thanks for the info...I'll look into it.

Active.com has updated their events - there were TONS of them on there today.  I mean....PAGES!!! Chase me - HA!  I'm a slow runner....you will pass me right out of the gate.  BUT, I am off to look at the info cause it sounds cool.... Run the Crater - is that a road run or a dirt run???

COUNT ME IN!!!!  I am registering right now!

After the 8K on March 15th, you might need to carry me for 1 mile or so - haha, but I am SO there!

I'll take off 1/2 day on Friday to go up and pick up my race packet and to check out the expo - if ya want...we can meet for that or something.

Unfortunately, hubby won't be able to come with - he will be travelling back from Africa that weekend.  But...maybe we can get some of the OH folks to come out and cheer us on!!

Anyone esle want to meet up with us????

I am SO excited!  THIS is what I needed - a BIG challenge...a 10K....YIKES!  I'm scared - haha.

Thanks!!!
