Today's challenege is a pretty good on - Be a Good Listener....... How many times do we hear what people are saying, but really do not listen?  I know that I am often guilty of that.  We see the lips moving, hear the words, and yet have NO CLUE as to what they just said.   We get so wrapped up inour own moments, our own lives,  that we forget to listen. Heck....even here on the boards.  We ALL have a story to tell, and many HAVE told them....but do we even recall what the story was??  Or why it was so important for that person to tell it??   And why is that??   We already know that listening involves more than just hearing the wrods that are spoken, but also includes the body language, tone, and sometimes perception (reading into what the person has said).  It involves being an active participant....asking questions....developing a thought. So...the challenge today is to practice being a good listener with your friends (even friends here on the boards) and co-workers.   http://kashi.com/challenges/93 ENJOY YOUR CHALLENGE FOR TODAY!!!

Good am, This one is INCREDIBLY important. I have to say that I am very much the listener. In fact, I would rather hear things and be given the opportunity to sort through them because I am a processor. I at times have a hard time when folks say "can I get your opinion?" or "what do you think?" and expect an answer right then. If you WANT it right then be prepared for a rather blunt all over the place type answer. But, if you truly want my honest, blunt but thought out answer then give me a chance to think on it. Its why I enjoy this forum. It gives me the opportunity to read posts and take the time to think them through THEN reply. I tend to make notes of things I wish to remember and stories I've been told. I'm great with memory so that's helpful. I will admit though the downside to written word is we cannot see one another to get the full picture (i.e. body language, emotions etc). Thanks for this Jill!
