Happy March - Time For A New Goal

Happy March To You!!!!   It's a new month, which means, time for a new goal.   Your goal can be anything you want, you just have to be accountable to it.  You need to write down your goal, plan how you will meet, and measure your progress towards the goal, work towards the goal, and then reward yourself.  Your goal can be anything you would like, it just has to be attainable.  I recommend that you not choose a goal that says I will lose X pounds this month.  The reason why, is because we have no control on what the body does.  We can work hard to lose the weight, but often times come up short.  Instead, make a goal that develops a healthy habit that can be used towards your weightloss.  Such as I will get in XXX grams of protein each day this month. As for your reward, I recommend that you not use a food related reward, as that kind of defeats what we are trying to do.  Sampe rewards can be:  a hot bath, time to yourself, a movie, a new shirt, new music for your mp3 player, an exercise dvd, new running shoes, pedicure, new hand weights, . Ok....so...my goals for March: 1.  I want to read and do Oprah's book club on The Good Earth.  So, I want to commit to doing it.  If I meet this goal, I will reward myself with a pedicure. 2.  I want o to increase my running distance 1 mile by the end of the month.  So, my long run will go from 4.25 miles to 5.25 miles.  Hey...need to prepare for that 10K with Joe and the gang!  If I meet this goal, I will reward myself with the new Nike+ Amp sportswatch to use with my Nike+ on my iPod. 3.  I want to get all of the unpacked boxes in my utility room cleared out and either put away or sent to Goodwill.  The boxes have been in there for over 2 years now....it's time!  The reward for meeting this will be a hot bath. 4.  I want to spend 2 hours(min) a week working on my scrapbooking and papercrafting.  My reward for doing this is I will allow myself to spend $50.00 on some new scrapbooking kits. ok....YOUR TURN!!!

I LOVE your goals!  You can SO do this! Is your bike in an someplace where it can constantly remind you to ride it?  Same with those invites. Can you put them someplace where you can work on them a little each day so it's not so overwhelming?  Or if you have to go to an appointment, take them with you.  I swear, I get alot done while waiting at the doc's office. And your rewards are GREAT!   Can't wait to see how you progress during the month. Have a GREAT day!

Well I was told yesterday thsat exercise will make my legs continue to swell so not released for exercise for 4 weeks yet...so I am going to commit to thinking about it lololo! No seriously I am going to take a small walk each day on my treadmill being careful not to stress my already bruised and swollen legs. I was considering going to the pool but right now my legs are so bruised I would look like I have been battered.... plus I still have the stomach and breast scars healing. Dr K told me yesterday not to be so impatient..... So I am just sitting on the sidelines right now........ sigh Jackie

You just need to take it easy (yes...I just said that to you! haha).  But, I totally understand you wanting to get up and moving, but you need to take it slow.   You do NOT want swelling in your beautiful tree trunks

Goals for March: 1. We get a pin when we've lost 70% of excess body weight at my support group. I have only 14 lbs. to go to get there. I hope to get it this month. 2. End this darn stall I am in. Have been stuck where I am am for a week and a half now. 3. Finish the Shamrock 8k with as little walking as humanly possible. 4. Spend a half hour each night just listening to my wife. That should be enough for now.

My two cents on #4 - this was one of the exercises we were given in marriage counseling that we both enjoyed so much.  We were told to give each partner 30min of un-interupted babble time.  it was nice to say whatever was on my mind or my days events without the interruption from the peanut gallery.  HA HA.  You should suggest to the wife that you take turns and she offer you the same listening one on one.  :)  kudos!  Great relationship tool.

Good am, I am a little late in replying to this. However, I wanted to get mine down "in black and white" so I can come back and be held accountable. 1) I want to increase my repitions of lunges, squats, stretches etc from 10 3x per day up to 10 6x per day (or more since I'm always WANTING to push me further). My reward for this will be 2 new pairs of "sexy", strappy shoes to go with my spring/summer dresses I've bought. 2) I want to save all our photos to CD's and catalogue them. My reward for this will be 1 hour of me time at the nail salon. 3) I want to improve on my time constraints by better mapping out my daily priorities. My reward for this will be more time doing the things I love and less time worrying about the things I well, don't and cannot control! All done! :o)
