I am sorry to rain on the parade here.... {everyone is always so happy} but I must vent to someone.  I made chocolate chip cookies for the kiddos yesterday and I ate ONE! ONE cookie- not huge but average size... and I gain a pound and a half today?  It took me all week to get the last 2 lbs off. Garrrrrr! I know so, shut up and quit eating it....right? I don't have anyone to blame but me. Oh well.... I have a meeting with my personal trainer today maybe she can help me. I am just really bummed. I work so hard.  Yet I just can't see results... Thanks for listening.  Carry on...

You express the greatest frustration we all deal with. You see other people seemingly gorge on food and appear to maintain. You indulge in a tiny bit of whatever and feel like you're going to explode. It just sucks. No way to spin it. Just keep in mind that you've done it before; you look great; and at the end, it's only one cookie!

We all stress this one - it seems out bodies are totally unforgiving at times! At the end of a day one cookie can't make yiou gain a pound and a half and my personal trainer used to threaten to come to my house and take my scales away because your body will naturally go up and down in water weight every day. And I do understand this but hate it and can't stay off the scales for my own good!  I think maybe there is a slight amount of guilt there for eating the cookie in the first place but it is no bad thing to remind ourselves that we really shouldn't eat them anyway..... delicious evil things that they are! Hang in there- if you are training right you will see some results.... Jackie

Have to agree with Jackie on this one.  1 cookie will not make you gain a real pound, but it will make you gain water weight (which can easily be gotten rid of). It sounds more like a guilt factor than anything else.  Chalk it up as an a-ha moment, and move forward.  Do a few extra reps today to burn it out of your system (or at least make yourself feel better). Life is too short to not be able to enjoy the occasional cookie from time to time.  Just know when to stop (at one SMALL one) and know that if you eat, you must work. As for results...keep at it.  I'm sure that the results are there, you just aren't noticing them.  Make sure that when you do free weights that you look at yourseld in the mirror.  It is VERY telling when you do that.

I agree with the advice already given here! Like said life is to short add extra to the exercise today an extra walk with the little ones and the cookie will  be gone . We all make those little slips and we are all humans and will nobody is perfect but as said no way its gonna give you a pound an a half of weigh gain. So chalk it up as a trial an error an move on to today and look at it as a lesson learned. Hope you have a wonderful day!

Ok so my personal trainer told me I wasn't eating enough! Go figure that ONE!  I hope the heck she knows what she is talking about... if I start eating more and I gain weight I will be angry & no one likes when George is angry! HAH I couldn't resist sorry.  I told her of my cookie delimma and she said because I have restricted a lot of my carbs (except the ones in fruits and veggies, you know natural carbs, that that is what carbs do, make you retain water.), so indeed the cookie could have made me gain a pound but it is not an accurate "pound".  She told me to let go of the guilt too, just as you all said, that there was nothing wrong with eating OR drinking anything I ever wanted AS LONG as I was "accountable for the calories".... be it chocolate, wine, or a cracker.  Meaning, life is too short not to have an occasional indulgance, just figure out how you can incorporate it into the rest of your day.  Write it in the food journal and don't "pretend" it didn't happen.  So thank you all for listening to me whine this morning.  I feel so much better and have adopted a new modo.... I will be accountable for every calorie I put into my mouth.  Not that I wasn't before but if I go to the kitchen and pop a grape in my mouth you better believe I will be writing it down. As far as other training.... she taught me so great new stuff.  I have a 3 day plan.  Day 1 will be upper body workout with 30 mins cardio, Day 2 will be lower body workout with 30 mins cardio, Day 3 will be 1 hour cardio only.  Then the cycle starts over.  So wish me luck.  I still will be running that 5K with Jill one day! ;) Have a lovely afternoon. Tootles :)

See....told you - ok...I could NOT resist!

But, now you understand how frustrating it is to bust your rear only to gain weight...simply because you aren't eating enough.  Not sure why, but it seems to be the common theme these days - haha.

It's hard...but I'm increasing my eating to get to where my body wants me at.  Also, rememebr that you are building muscle which will account for some weight gain - check out my stats from yesterday's appt with the nut.  THREE pound weight gain from muslce alone in 7 weeks.  WOWZA!

ok...as for the 5K's there are several that Joe and I were looking at.  We can defiantely post them here for others to join us when they feel ready.  No pressure (heck..I do that to myself enough), and no one should feel like they need to keep up, or out-run.  It's for fun.

But...they are great fun to do, and since I just [gulp!] signed up for the Rock and Roll 1/2 Marathon (13.1 miles) on August 31st, I will using them quite a bit for training purposes.  I'm scared to death - haha! So...just know...you are fine (pannicked I understand, but fine).  Just be accountable.  i use fitday.com and that really seems to help me. Good luck and see ya on the road!

The pound and half is frustrating for sure, but focus again on how far you've come and you will see that small increase gone soon.  I'm glad you went over this with the nutitionist and came up with a new training plan.  GOOD LUCK and I know you can reach your goals!  :)  HUGS!
