My doc told me to drain some chicken noodle soup then drink that broth.  I had gotten really dizzy do to the very few calories and severe nausea/ vomiting I had up to the first month.  The sodium restored my system. Other then that, just the normal liquids How is hubby and kiddos?

I'm confused?  Are you talking about a clear liquid PRE-op diet?  I had a pre-op liquid diet, but it consisted only of protein shakes and water.  Every bariatric practice is different though...so check with your office on their requirements. If you are sensitive to no food in the tummy, you may be in for a few woozy moments during the beginning just from the adjustment.  I hope you are able to get through it.  I found that I was more weak at the end of the day after drinking all day but no eating.  It was hard, but really prepared me for what was coming down the pike. Personally, I wouldn't have been able to be at Busch Gardens with all the smells like you said.  You really shouldn't cheat (or be tempted to cheat) on your pre-op liver shrinking diet.  It is one of the ways you can help yourself have a smooth surgery.  At least at my bariatric office, people have been turned away on surgery day for not doing the pre-op liquid diet.  They don't fool around with that.  Apparently, the complication rate is much lower when you do it, so they require a two week  pre-op liquid diet for everyone.  Sooo, if you are up for a challenge, then go ahead and join your family at BG.  If not, politely decline or make another suggestion of an activity you can all do together that doesn't involve trigger foods/smells along every corner like BG. Good luck!

Wow. Everyone has a different regime. I had chicken wings and beer watching the UVA-Tech game the weekend before surgery. No pre-diet here.

Um yes...I paid for the most recent Mrs. Maury to go back and get her degree from there. Heck of an interesting period in my life. Rented her a room in a house up there and she commuted from here Monday mornings and came back Friday nights. Was like dating again. She was pregnant with our daughter for the last 4 months of it too. So she tells everyone she got knocked up in college. Of course she was 36 at the time.

Oh that is funny... being knocked up is hard enough itself, I can't imagine throwing in going to college!  Some people just got it like that though.... not me.  My friend is pregnant with her third child in 3 years and is in grad school now.... crazy!

I would know about being knocked up. My role in the process was minimal and from what I have been told didn't last nearly long enough.

I had weight loss surgery. I did it the easy way.
