Recovering from plastic surgery

Hi everyone, I have missed keeping up with everyone's journey! Last Friday (2/29) I had what will definitely be my last round of plastics. I had a lower body lift w/ abdominoplasty, inner thigh lift x2 and lipo on my saddlebags and knees. Yowza, it knocked the crap out of me and definitely brought me to my knees. I had a planned 1 night stay and had to add a second night because I literally could not hold myself up to try and walk. The doctor said the surgery was about 7 hours long and aside from losing a lot of blood, I did fine. I gotta say though… it’s been horrible. An entire week has gone by and this is the first day I have not cried, been in a haze of pain or feel like I was being kicked by a mule every time I tried to move. I saw the surgeon this morning and he took out the 6 JP drains that were implanted right at the top of my groin… yeah, that was fun.   I really, really hope things continue to progress and I can improve mobility more every day. I absolutely did not expect it to be like this. When this same surgon did my brachioplasty and breast lift, I was back in business after 4 days. Not this time! Anyway, I wanted to check in with you all and ask you to send me strong thoughts. I know this is the last stage of my transformation and it’s all part of the bigger set of changes I have made in my life. But in the meantime, ow, ow, ow!!!

Oh my goodness Mary you have been through the wars! That ws a lot to get done at once. I had some too while you were away but have to have one more. I find my lipo hurts way more than my surgery! Send me with a PM with your phone number if you want me to call you and cheer you up this weekend - but if you don't feel like talking that is okay too! Take care of yourself! Jackie

Jackie, I hope your recovery is going well - I want to hear all about it! I will PM you info so we can chat, especially about next weekend. Also, I want to hear more about the latest addition to the family! I've often thought our dog Skippy would love a canine companion. He tolerates our cat, but I know it's not the same as having another dog buddie!

My word, that is a lot of work at once.  I hope you get to feeling better soon.  To be honest it will probably be a month before things seem normal.  Please allow yourself to be pampered.  A wise doctor once said count your progress in weeks, not days.  I hope your pain control is good.  I am sure the results will be amazing.  PM if you want phone calls.  Hugs, Loris

Loris, it's so nice to hear from you. I have thought about you so much since Richmond and been happy to see things going smoothly with your own plastics. I think you hit the nail on the head with your idea of it taking about a month for me to feel more "normal". I have pretty much chalked the month of March up to this recovery process and am sure I will need all of that time. I am lookinng forward to our next round of "scar sharing"!

Hey Jill, Oh, I have thought of you a lot in the last week, since I remember how well and quickly you bounced back from your surgery. I am hopeful that I will get to see everyone next weekend. I've asked my husband to help me start driving in a few days, just to see how that goes. If I can't do it myself, I'm sure he will bring me (he'd probably be happy to have me out of his hair for a while!).

Lys, I am convinced that your healing vibes and prayers helped - I posted an update on how much better I am feelinng. One of the best things I've learned how to do is ask people to send me strong thoughts when I need them and it works every time. Thank you!
