Getting close and a funny...

Well all, I'm getting close. Tomorrow is clear liquid diet, and magnesium citrate in the late afternoon to clear me out. After the colonoscopy regimen, I'm really looking forward to having to drink something gross and then spend the evening on the toilet.  (NOT!)  I think my nerves are taking care of my needing to clear out, to be grossly honest.   Surgery is 8 am on Tuesday morning.  I'm excited, but also just can't wait for that part to be over.  I'm feeling better about it than I was a month out, so I'm sure this is a good thing to do with minimal risk. I guess I'm feeling very much at peace with this.

Now for the funny.  This weekend, my hubby came shopping with me for liquid protein.  He is being very supportive now, and says he's going to try to stick to what I have to stick to diet wise.  So he got some protein supps, too.  When we got home, he was very excited to drink one, because they look so appetizing.  Pretty colors. Neato flavors. Right? Despite me trying to make the point that these are nutritional supplements and not yummy beverages despite looking like koolaid..... he put one in the freezer to super chill it fast so he could try it right away.  So he screws off the lid, and chugs it down, and stops dead in his tracks with the funniest look on his face!!!

He set it down and said, "babe, I know you are serious about changing your life, if you are willing to drink THIS stuff for a week." LOLOLOOOOOOOOOOLOLOLOLOL  I tried to tell him this was no joke and that protein supps were just that!  It was cute.   the rest of that bottle of protein is still in the fridge. lolololol he hasn't touched it!

That's so funny! My surgery is 8 days after your's so I understand your nerves! I will say tho, if you check out bariatriceating.com they have some super recipes for protein shakes...maybe you can find one that he would like there. Simple thing's like adding sugar free syrups and chunks of bananas to the blender....:) Good luck Brandi~

Thanks for the heads up to Bariatriceating.com!  Good luck with your surgery, its coming up so quickly isn't it?!!   My colleagues were noticing how out of it and jumpy I was today.  I'm ready for the surgery part to be over and the losing to begin!

Good am Dawn, I am glad things are coming along for you. I know you are still nervous and its normal/expected. Excitement takes over a lot more here shortly. I'm glad you are feeling peace with it. I felt very good about it although nervous more about it hurrying up instead of the surgery itself. LOL! Your hubs sounds very supportive which is instrumental in your overall success and funny even. A lot of protein supps are trial and error and trust me you'll be making faces like that too.

You all have completely prepared me for the trial and error of the protein drinks!   Thanks for your support!  I keep having the fearful thought that perhaps I'll just skip this surgery thing and stay fat and eat macaroni and cheese!  But then my sense comes back and I get back with the program!!  I had a good laugh at myself for having these thoughts because of fear and nervousness.

Dawn good luck for tomorrow!! I am sure you are going to do really well with such a positive attitude! Your husband made me laugh - my husband wanted to try my shakes at the beginning because I do not like most oif them and he kept saying it was probably mind over matter - until he tasted one - suddenly he had a new respect for me lol! He said they were so gross!!  He has never tried one since lololol! Jackie

Thank you so much!  LOL@ your hubby's reaction, too.  Its so easy to say what is mind over matter when its not your mind and your matter!  Cute story!!
