Hematoma

Well, I thought I was going along and making great progress... then confirmed yesterday that I have a huge hematoma in the upper part of my right inner thigh. I suspected something was going on when the normal swelling there started to feel harder and more like a large bump in the area. By yesterday afternoon, it was almost the size of my entire hand, from the front of my thigh to the back. The surgeon confirmed it within 2 seconds of looking at the area. He's decided to observe it until my appt on Friday and hopefully it won't have to be drained. I am disappointed at this development. The only good news was that he took out all the abdomen staples while I was there and said that aside from the hematoma, I am healing great and things will settle down (with swelling) very soon. This morning, I can feel that the hematoma is definitely bigger and firmer than yesterday... it's like having chub rub again, which is a horrible feeling! I'm trying not to get too discouraged or angry and just remember that I am still making overall progress. This surgery has been such a humbling experience, but I hope to get some lessons out of it somehow!

UGH!  Sorry to hear about the hemotoma.  That stinks, but is common, so hey....your normal.  The good news is that it was detected early andyour PS was able to take care of it without alot of extensive care. AND....you are healing well, despite it.  So...remain positive.  All will be well. Can't wait to see the new you on Saturday!   Take care and get plenty of rest........

Good am Mary, I'm sorry to hear of the hematoma but glad its been diagnosed and the doc will take care of it Friday. GREAT NEWS on the staples being removed and that you are healing nicely. Its been a tough experience but once you are healed it will be a memory of a time when you have learned from it and can pass along your story to share with others. That is one of the BEST things ever is being able to share it with others and know that in helping yourself you are helping others and vice versa. I am looking to a time when my plastics are coming together. So, THANKS!
