Daily Challenge - Know Your Portions

When we’re hungry, our eyes are often bigger than our bellies and we tend to overeat. That’s why it’s so important to know what healthy-sized portions are for our favorite foods…and to savor those portions slowly. In fact, portion control is one important factor in staying trim.

Today, learn about your how much you’re eating at a typical meal by getting out your measuring cups and spoons each time you eat. For example, during breakfast pour your cereal into a bowl like you usually do. Then use measuring cups to pour a second bowl, following the serving size on the package’s Nutrition Facts Panel. This way, the next time you eat cereal you’ll know what an actual serving size looks like in your bowl.

Challenge yourself today to measure the portions of all your meals. **Reposted with written permission from www.kashi.com.  Check out www.kashi.com for more articles.

You know it really is all about portion control and without measuring it is very difficult to know if you are over eating or not - so I still measure a lot.... Jackie

I agree - at over 2 years out...I STILL measure everything.  It really helps me keep to portion and know if I need to increase or decrease. And yes....even those bites here and there of granola get measured out.....

I measure and weigh so much that my son (who is 3) will often make me measure his food before giving it to him. He says that I have to "cook" it on the scale before he can eat it! :) This is great advise and something that we tend to slack off on over time. Our eyes lie! Don't trust them! :)
