MY AFFAIR IS OVER
Okay here is my first part of advice but you shoud check with your doctor - just after surgery you are never going to be able to consume 50 grams of protein in one go and many doctors say we should not aim for more than 30 grams in one go otherwise we do not absorb it. Secondly, once you pour it out and mix it - it has a limited shelf life of an hour or so. Also once you put your lips to it and drink it, then leave it , bacteria can get in there pretty fast. We were told to treat protein drinks like baby food - once opened and ready to eat, eat then throw away the left overs.
So you may only want to mix what you are going to cosume and the first couple of weeks it is unlikely you can consume 12 ounces at a time of any liquid....
And yes the scoop will be in there but you may have to dig for it...
I hope you like it afer buyng such a large bottle of it - but i you don't - GNC will take it back and refund. You may just want to have a small amount of protein on hand as your tastes change after surgery and sometimes what tasted good before tasted disgusting after it....
I know it is hard to not think of all of the bad things that coud happen but honestly - relax and wait and see - I am sure it will all turn out fine but if you have issues we will all do our best to help you with them.... between us we all know a lot of different proteins and you will be able to sip water - it may be different from before but you will deal with it. Try thinking ahead to a healthier you after the surgery and how much more joyous your life is going to be!
Good luck and we are all routing for you!

Thank you Jackie for taking time to help me with this. I am much better with the relaxing this morning. I had a lengthy discussion at the GNC store over the products and "what" would be better tasting and of course in reality, the guy said really none of the proteins are to rave about. But, however he did mention that this fruity one "seems" to go well as smoothie when fixed right. I am not going to be putting it into milk products ---jus****er. I also will be making up popsicles so that if not being able to drink so much, at least I can nibble at them and get it that way. Days 1-4 are the hardest. Easter Sunday dinner will be cream of some sort of soup strained, haven't decided yet what I will have. From there it will become easier.
With the protein powder mixed with water, I shouldn't have to throw that out after an hours time, would I ? I tried to choose the highest protein drink to make sure I get the most in. For me, I have to have a minimum of 50 grams per day and not over 60.
Thanks again for being such a supportive group, regardless of "what types" of surgery we are having. We are all here to lose and support. Ohhhh.........in Maryland one of the local family practicioners has taken it upon themselves to help have a support group in our town for anyone either seeking surgery or postop. There are several that are interested in this and with it being so close to home, it will be of great help. We in Maryland are starting to really come up in the world!!! haha......Just seems we are lacking in the medicine areas here and must always travel uptown into the larger cities. I love the Virginia team of doctors and their staff and am completely satisfied at my choice. Thanks again everyone!!! Please keep in touch with me.....and I will email on Wed once I return from the hospital.......

I am glad that you are doing so much better today.... and - in my opinion only - I agree with the GNC guy about none of the protein tasting good - however that is in my opinion only as I dislike most proteins. There are many people here who do enjoy their protein......
Whether the protein is mixed with water or milk once made up I am pretty sure it still has a short shelf life..... so just be careful with it as you don't want bacteira to settle into it.
It is great that you can go to a support group because we all need support and every group has different things to offer........
Good luck for surgery - know you are going to do great!!
