Yeah. I was a little overcome with the emotion too. I looked over and saw my wife and two of the kids and it kind of got. Whenever we get to it, I have video of my crossing the finish line that I'll post later. Great job. Sorry I had suck a crazy weekend. Would have loved to meet up with you guys. The other good news. Alex's team (he's my 7 year-old) won their soccer game 11-1, so it was worth rushing out of there.

ok...glad I wasn't the only one blubbering - haha.  After I crossed the finish line, the tears came down and all I could do was raise my fist in the air - as if victorious.  Ok...I WAS victorious! Defiantely want to see your video.  Wish we could have met up - it would have been great fun.  But...there are other runs coming.  In fact...there's a 5K coming in May.  It's the Lee's Friends, Run On The Wild Side, and it's on May 31st.  Not a big crowd, but fun anyways.  That was my 1st 5K ever so hubby and I will be out there.... Here's the info if you are interested....http://www.active.com/page/Event_Details.htm?event_id=1544998&assetId=94089583-69b1-4342-a3fd-69cd99309828 Congrats to your son.....We too came home to great news yesterday.   See ya on the road!

Thanks for posting Jill.  Thanks for the Atta-Boys guys. I had a great time.  Jill and her husband and sister were terrific hosts and fun to hang out with. We met at the Expo on Fri and got our packets and shopped a while.  Then went into town away from the beach for dinner and I had some amazing crab soup.  Then we when home and prepped and crashed as much as we could for pre-race jitters and such. Saturday we met early and rode into oceanfront area together and hung out at the humbling Hilton lobby until time to line up.  We had a disconnect with Blair both days as his sick child put a kink in meeting plans but we communicated by cell phone and kept trying to include after the race, but never got to meet face-to-face. The race was nice and falt on good road and the boardwalk sidewalk.  It was very well managed and supervised.  A very plesant experience.  Our threesome (Jill, Jill's sister, and me) stayed together for the first 1.5 miles.  As Jll's sisterslowed she encouraged us to keep going and after a little coaxing, we did.  at about 2.5 I felt like walking some to get my wind back but was determiined to get to 3 miles before doing so.  Jill started heating up and a slowed a bit too.  I think it was that first pain barrier we both hit.  When we go tto the 3 mile mark at the turn to the finish I walked for about a minute and Jill jogged by at her steady pace. I got going again but after I relocated Jill, my breath was spent ands I had to walk a short ways to work on getting it back. This process aoccurred once more that last mile and a half but at the half mile poiint ai just sucke it up and pedalled the rest of the way.  I caught up to jill and finished about two peopll behind her.  She really mainteained an excellent pace throught and has done a good job gettin ready for this race for a first timer. We got our water and tunred in our timimg pieces.  We went back to cheer her isster but she crossed befroe we found her and she sneaked up behind us.  Then we went over to the racers refreshment area and got a goody bad and some tasty Irish stew to replenish ourselves.   We stopped for pictures after rehooking up with Jills husband and had a causual walk back to th truck and checked our messages and talked with Blair.  Then said our goodbyes and c rode off into the rest of our Saturday adventures. I had a really great time. I was miffed when I found our time posting and saw they had our results listed by GUn to finish time insteadof our actual individaul chip times. JIll and I would have placed better using our real times because we were 3+ minutes later than the actual (gun) start time. Iwas going to load the results from the website into an Excel or Access table so I could sort it accurately but the editing to get the text file able to be imported by column for the 4920 runners and the 90+ page results was too overwhelming,...so I'll just be happy knowing my time and stop over analyzing results. It was too good of a time with friends to let that mess it up for me.   Sorry we didn't get to see more of your guys but there will be other opportunities.  Training for UKROPS.

Definately had a GREAT time.  Can't wait for you to meet my son in Richmond...he's a hoot!  And definately looking forward to the next run. Like you, I was a bit surprised that everything was by gun time and not by our chip time, but I was glad to see that they had our chip times posted.  I broke into tears when I realized that I was just a litle over 2 minutes off of my goal time.  Think about it....we were clo9se to beating our personal goals...... OH!  I came home and unpacked my bag from shopping at the expo and I just LOVE that magnet I bought - So I run like a girl....try and keep up ! (HAHA - just a bit of smash talk to prep for the 10K). It weas great fun running with you and there was SO much excitement in the air....can't wait for the 10K....... See you next month!

OK...here are my videos. First is a shot of me turning the corner at Laskin Blvd, going from Pacific back to Atlantic Avenue. I am in the orange UVA sweatshirt for those of you in the home crowd. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uzqm0KLi14c Next video is crowd shots of the reactions of two of my kids. You can imagine how much my sick daughter, Clare, enjoyed being there. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nAKSpfhdmrM Finally, it's me crossing the finish line...just seconds behind that darned 9 year-old girl who beat me. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i_1qhcB2jHo
