Question on Travel after Surgery.
Good am Gwen,
First and foremost, check with your surgeon. Also, its dependant on how you are doing/feeling. It would probably do you wonders to attend but you & health first! All best!

You can travel depending on whether your surgeon says it is safe for you to fly but you also need to make provisions for yourself for protein etc but if you do not have any complications I am pretty sure you will be able to fly ok.... just make sure your surgeon is ok with it! Then on the flight drink lots of fluid and make sure you carry protein with you or arrange for your family to have some there for you....
Good luck Gwen!
Jackie
I agree that barring any complications & surgeon's okay, it should be fine. The protein vials travel pretty well if they are something you like. The main thing that early out would be making sure you are getting in the fluids & protein, and some exercise. Depending on the risk of blood clot at that point, you may need to get up during the flight (especially if it is a long one) and stretch your legs.
Hi Gwen....at the time that I had my surgery I lived in Alaska, but had my surgery in Mexico. I was required to stay in Mexico for nine days after my surgery, so made the 23 hour flight (includes layovers) back to Alaska. I had just gotten my last drain out that morning, so was kind of sore from that yet, not to mention the incision from the open RNY. I would have to say that my biggest problem though was my energy level and staying in an upright position for so long. Overall though....the trip was pretty good. I think you would have no problem at all making a flight six weks or so later. Take care....Patty
