Need advice/suggestions

Hello OHers, I am new to the site.  My nurse practitioner suggested that I join.  I am in Harrisonburg but working with commonwealth surgeons in Richmond.  Does anyone have any suggestions for psych evals in Harrisonburg, Staunton, or Charlottesville?  Has anyone worked with commonwealth surgeons?  Just looking for some feedback. Thanks in advance :-)

Well hello there.  I am scheduled for RNY on April 30 and am going through Commonwealth Surgeons.  Dr Bautista is doing mind as well.  The office is great and the bariatric coordinator, Hilarie, nothing short of being fanastic.  I had my psych eval with someone they recommended, actually he was a licensed clinical social worker.  I would recommend him but he's in Richmond.  If you have any questions,  please feel free to contact me. Dr. Hutcher is my surgeon. He was my angel .. still is . The office staff are the best .. especially Flo .. I love her . She has helped me do so much . As far as physc eval , Hutchers office may be able to reccomend someone . They did for me .  You will mostly likely need to let them know who you are going to see , as they have certain questions they need to ask you - pertaining to your surgery .  I love everyone there . They have been like family to me for 4 years . I live in NOVA but travel 2 x a year to get my check ups done .. I refuse to let anyone else treat me .  Not knowing what surgery type you are looking into . But if RNY is in your future .. HUTCHER is your man .  Let me know if I can futher assist you .  Natalie

Hi and welcome tothe Va Board I used  Charlottesville and  Dr Schirmer and Scott Bender was the Psych. there and he was a great Dr and surgeon. the # there can be found though the link :Resources or 434-924-2104 is  Dr Schirmers office great bunch of people there @ UVA. Good luck.

Good am! WELCOME to the VA Board! I too am a Commonwealth Surgeon's patient. I had Dr. Martin who has since moved with her family and is practicing elsewhere. They are wonderful and you are in great hands. As for the eval they usually suggest someone for you and things have changed in the 5 years since having surgery. Take time to read the updated materials in the WLS handbook you've been given or will be. Its a LOT better now and was updated last year. It lists almost everything you'll need. For anything you cannot find or have questions about do ask them in the office and lean on us here. All best!
