Update on my dad

Got a call yesterday from dad's doctor reccommending that he be put into hospsite care. He said that he has come as far as he will and he is having cronic pain in his back and that hospic can handle that and make him comfortable. I talk to the hospic nurse last night and she feels that dad is a prime candid for it so we will meet Monday morning to talk and sign the papers. I also found out that this will help with getting Medicaid and that will be great. I am dealing with all of this the best that I can and will just take it one day at a time. It is a lot of stress trying to deal with him, my step-mom and other family members. I am not looking forward to when he passes away as there will probly be problems and I will deal with it the best that I can.  I would ask that you keep us in your prayers as we go throught this time in our lives. As far as me, I am still trying to lose the weight and they keep increasing my insulin and my sugars are coming down but not fast enough to make the doctor happy. I am doing what I can. When I started to try to lose I weight 246 and now I weight 230.5 by my scales so not to bad.

Hi Pat, I am so sorry to hear about your dad but if he goes into a hospice they can control his pain until the end...... this must be so hard for you and you have my sincere sympathies and prayers for you and all your family. On the weight front you are doing really well and stress can also keep sugars a bit higher than normal.... just keep plugging away because if you do get insurance for this surgery they may not do it if your sugars are not under control...... I will keep you in my thoughts... Jackie

Thank you Jackie, you are right stress can keep the sugar levels up but with all the stress that I have. As far as dad is concerned I can only hope that they can help him and they are going to help us deal with how things are going with him. I feel so much pressure that I really do not know which way to go.

I am glad that he will be getting the care & pain control that he needs but so sorry to hear it has come to this point.  My experience with hospice has been great, the people with hospice are angels.  I will continue to pray for you & your family.  You are doing great with your weightloss.  Keep it up and those sugars will get straight soon.

Thank you Courtney, I apprecite you more than you know. Sorry about your father-in-law. Hope that all of you are doing ok. I was hoping that this year would be better but I guess that it might not be. At least they will be able to control his pain level. I noticed when I was up there seeing him the other day how much he was hurting and I was worried. The only thing I am not looking forward to is seeing him going down hill. But the Lord will only make me go through what he wants for me.

I am sorry you are having to go through such a tough time.  Hospice is an amazing organization, and I don't doubt they will be a tremendous aid to your father and to the family.  You are all in my thoughts and prayers.  Remember to take care of yourself through all of this....it sounds like you are, and it is paying off....congrats on the weight loss!

Thank you and I will try and take care of myself. It has been a long road and looks like it will be even longer but I can sort of see the end.
