Hi, I had my surgery on Feb. 18 2008, I was released from the hospital on Wed. and had to go back in again due to dehydration. I thought  was going to die the first three weeks, I haven't been that sick in my life. But good news I had my 1 month check-up with Dr. Clark and I had lost 30 pounds. I am so glad about that. My stomach sstill gives me some trouble. I can't drink the protein shakes or use the protein powders, so I try to get enough protein in the foods that I eat.. Does anyone have trouble drinking water?  I use to drink 64 ozs. before the surgery and now I can hardly get down 16 ozs.

Hello there.  First of all congratulations on your surgery and 30 pound weight loss.  You are doing great!  As you know, all of us have different tastes for the protien powders/shakes.  Nectar is my favorite.   About the water - I found that my pouchie gets grouchie with ice cold water, so I drink room temperature and it goes down much easier.  I am able to get in about 110 oz. per day.  Don't forget to count hot teas, soups, hot chocolate as water too.   Keep up the good work.

Thanks for your tips, I haven't been counting the liquid  in my soups or the milk on my oatmeal. I am going to try some different sugar free drinks, since I crystal light products don't stay down.

I am sorry you had a rough start, but so happy to hear that you are down 30 lbs!  That is wonderful.  I am not a big water drinker, never have been, so I have been rediscovering other liquids...Tropicana has a sugarfree orangeade and lemonade (large bottles in the soda section) and that is good...also, I make myself homemade decaf iced tea...get the big bags and boil the water....add cold water and ice...love it!  I put it in a large drink bottle and take it with me everywhere.  That's my way of getting in the liquids.  I hope that helps.

Tropicana also have a sugar free Fruit Punch (sold at Walmart) that I just love - even my 4 year old son loves it!! Of course if I told him it is sugar free he would insist he doesn't like it lol!! Jackie

Hi Betty Sounds like you had a rough start of it. Everything I drink is too sweet tasting. I do the SF Tropicana lemonade with water. I also like Lipton Diet Green Tea. You are doing great with your weight loss! Looking forward to seeing you again.
