Blocked a Volleyball at the Net !!

I had a great time at my church's men's retreat at a camp in PA. In addition to some great teaching and some teriffic camaraderie I had several WOW moments:   +  I ended up on a top bunk because I was one of the healthier guys in the group. I was amazed at how easy it was climbing up and down   +  A number of people asked me how I had lost so much weight and said how good I looked (but who cares since it was a men's retreat, lol)   +  I went on a hike with several others going up and down hillsides - no problem   +  I sat on a porch swing without fear of breaking the chain   ++  Last night I played volleyball for an hour and a half. I really enjoy volleyball but haven't played in years. It was great!!! Early in the match I was at the net and the guy across from me spiked the ball. I went up and above the net and blocked the ball. Everyone was amazed - including me. Also, my serve was humming and I was pretty good with my bumps and sets (I need to practice my spikes). It was a lot of fun and I am sooooo sore today. Feels great. Joe

Take a bow Joe, because you deserve it. So many WOW's in one weekend is due to all your hard work. Doesn't it feel good to feel sore cause you've worked your butt off instead of being sore from lugging around all those lbs?  many more to come your way Jen

Wow, that's awesome!  Congrats - and way to go for recognizing all of the great changes that you have accomplished!!!!  Being overweight limits us in more ways than I think we ever realize - I can't wait to join you on the losing side and see what I can do!  Although, pretty sure that at 5'1'' I will never be able to spike a volleyball :) I'm glad you enjoyed your weekend! That sounds like a fun weekend. I played volleyball at our Christmas party at work. Now I just stood in one spot and I was so sore for several days just from hitting a little ball. I'm looking forward to being in your shoes soon (well I'm doubting I'll be spiking any balls, but who knows). Penny
