Just had to share! I had to stop out and about tonight for dinner. I had been running around in Va Beach and the kid's were starving. We stopped at Good Ol Ruby Tuesday's and I was so happy with my meal! They keep changing their menu lately ( in the last year or so, everytime I go in it's different ) but I sure hope they keep this on the menu! They have 3 choices. Two mini burger's with onion and pickle and cheese, a side and The AWESOME salad bar OR two TURKEY mini's with the same OR * My meal tonight * One Broc and Cheese and Chicken Quiche, with a tomato and Mozerella side salad and Salad bar OR soup ( I believe ) O MY GOODNESS IT WAS AWESOME!!!!!!!!!! Just had to share!

That sound GOOD!!!  I'm amazed you can eat that already. Are you off soft foods now? How is everything going? Are you having any problems with any foods?

Thanks for your info, Penny

Your pouch must be very friendly!!  I doubt even now if I would choose the quiche anywhere I ate because they usually use too much fat when they cook them. I usually choose a griiled meat and a veg or small green salad. I find nowadays that I look at the menus  and nuritional values of restaurants online before I go out, to me decide what I can eat in them. I wa scaught out once or twice in the beginning and ate the wrong kind of foods that I thought were the right ones - so now I double check. All I am saying Brandi  -  is be careful what you select because even if it sounds good for you, it may not always be. And I promise I am doing this out of concern for you and other new post ops..... it is so easy to eat something you assume will be alright if you can't see the nutritional value broken down for it. Good luck Jackie

Well of course I couldnt eat the breading, Just the inside and of course not very much of any of it. I had a few bites of Cottage Cheese and a few other thing's from the bar and then I was pretty much done. I am certainly better at counting and watching at home, I was on the run and I think I choose some of the best options on the menu being that I cant eat salad yet, or the veggies that Im really craving because they have the tougher skins. Believe me once I can, I'll be very happy with a grilled chicken salad! :)

WOW!  You were able to tolerate all of that???  WOW!  I'm amazed that none of that bothered you. My pouch would be crying over the fats and tomatoes at 2 weeks out.  In fact, my pouch would be crying today over the fats...guess you're lucky. But, thanks for the tip on the turkey minis.  I'll try them with no bun......

I am glad you are doing so well, Brandi, and so soon after the surgery!  I know you were worried, and it sounds like you are doing well handling things now!  Congrats on the weight loss...you are on your way!  :D

I so agree with everyone that has posted to you so far . I truly think that while you really thought this was a great choice .. well let's look at it ..

Chicken & Broccoli Quiche.......................

Calories 875 / Fat gm  68 / Net Carb gm 34/ Fiber gm1 They did not list the Turkey Mini's .  While we know you did not get the full 875 calories ... it is still way to high for someone at your stage . If you ate the whlole thing .. you probably took in about 500 . I am just really concerend that none of these choices are soft enough for your new pouch not to mention the fat content is really high .  One of the first things that I am going to do when my support group starts back up is take a group out to eat and show you how to order healthy . It is really important at any stage of your journey .  If I would you I would re-visit with your doctor to make sure you are able to eat these things . My fat content was no more than 3 % at each meal .And my caloric intake was no more than 250 .  I hope you are not offended . I am really trying to help .  Thanks ,  Natalie
