Morning Folks..... well...today is Thursday and several of us are participating int he UKROPS 10K this weekend up in Richmond.  I know that several have said that they are coming out to show their support tous....we GREATLY appreciate this! I wanted to pass on some info......

Parking on Race Day  Map  http://www.sportsbackers.org/10kcoursemap.htm

We encourage participants to car pool to the race. Even better run or ride your bike to the starting line. Free parking is available on streets throughout the area. We strongly recommend going east of Belvidere to find on-street and surface-lot parking. To lessen your chances of getting stuck in traffic, please avoid the Belvidere exits off I-95 and I-195 and instead go further east and exit on 3rd Street, Broad Street or Franklin Street. For a complete list of parking decks near the event, visit our website <http://www.sportsbackers.org/10kparking.htm> .

Our general recommendation is to be on site about a half hour before your wave begins. If you arrive in the area after 9 a.m. when runners have already begun crossing the finish line, please be aware that crossing Monument Avenue or Franklin Street will be difficult (remember the game Frogger?) In that case, you can walk down to Belvidere Street in order to cross over.  If you cannot make it...you can STILL see it.....

Live splits/results offered on our website during the event;

CBS 6 to stream live race coverage online

Have friends or family that won't be able to watch you participate in person? They can track your progress and see your finishing time live on our website during the event. Tell them to go to our website on Saturday and click on the Live Splits/Results link <http://www.usraceworks.com/10k2008/> on our homepage. There they be able to see when you crossed the timing mat at both the halfway point (5k/3.1 miles) and the finish line.

Anyone living out of town can also watch live coverage of the event on CBS 6's website. The entire 2-hour race show will be streamed live on www.wtvr.com <http://www.wtvr.com/> . So....SHOW YOUR SUPPORT!!!! I'm not sure HOW you can track us, but once we get our race numbers, we can post them here...

Meeting spots: Fri Night:    Packet pickup and vendor Expo at U-Turn Sports Perfomance Academy on 2100 block of Maywill Street.  4-5:30/6 p.m.   Dinner - Cheesecake Factory, 11800 West Broad Street, approx 6 p.m. Saturday (Race morning)   I'll be gathering with my daughter, the VCU Massey Cancer Team David II runners, and any friends from OH.com (and running mate Sporty Jill and her son) in front of the black building labeled in copper/bronze colored letters  "Richmond Glass Shop Incorporated"  at the corner of N. Laurel Street and Broad Street (about 3 blocks below the Starting Line/corral).  I plan to be there around 8 a.m. for parking access and I am contemplating if I want to leave myself a self-prepared post-race recovery stash at the Monroe Park Finish line, Amica runner bag check storage area.      Getting there before I am scheduled to start,...seeing the elite runners sprinting up and down Broad street to warm up, having access to the port-a-johns (nerves I guess), and the crowd gathering and waves starting and moving closer and closer to the start corral, all gets me psyched-up before the race. I, like Jill, would love to see any of our friends that are crazy enough to party with us. You have plenty of time to go from the meeting spot for the start back to the finish area around Monroe park while the participants run/walk the course.  Maybe we can crash a party spot in the park or pick a location to go get some protein and fluids afterwards. UKROPS promises music and snacks and there will be plenty of costumes and sights to behold in addtion to all personal accomplishments. I believe I am sceduled for wave L which is scheduled to start at 9:22 and my daughter in Wave Q scheduled for 9:42,..so I will be in either of those waves.  We will also be wearing the Massey Cancer team shirts that are yellow with black sleeves (bumblebee colors). I'm getting hyped!!!

Good luck guys. Wish I could be there to support, but I'll be knee deep in soccer games. Actually wish I could be there actually running, but you know what I meant... Not looking forward to next year when I'll have 3 kids playing at once! I'll run a 10k tomorrow night to show my support! Blair
