I had 2 of my own kinda WOW moments!!!

Well I woke up this morning, realizing my surgery was in 4 weeks from yesterday so I decided to do something different.  I decided to go get my hair cut.  They ended up cutting off 6 inches or so and wow, does my head feel lighter and I feel naked.  I got it cut into a above the shoulder shag and I think I actually like it.  After that I decided to tackle my "finding protein" dilemna.  I went to GNC to see if they had samples.  The GNC I went to didn't have the refridgerator samples but the clerk  gave me 1 of her personal shakes.  It was the Muscle Milk Chocolate and I ABSOLUTELY loved them.  I just pray that no one tells me that 20 grams of protein isn't quite enough. I was so worries that I wouldn't find anything I liked and now that I have, I am stoked!  Soooo..  not sure everyone else would call these WOW moments but after the last few weeks that I've had...  I definitely do.  Thanks for listening. Hugs, Theresa

Count them and be proud of them! (I was going to say "be stoked about them" but that sounded a little too 80s....but you can be stoked, too!)  And good for you for getting out and trying things now... you are going to be so ready when you're surgery gets here :)  Are you going to post pics of the new do? Congrats - Sarah

20g won't be enough for one day, but is certainly a great start.  Most of my shakes have between 20-25g per serving.  Since I'm eating all foods now, I get quite a bit from eating, but still do one shake, and two servings of milk a day (16g protein, I justify it like another other shake, but something I actually like the taste of).  I'm even trying to convince myself to get off my rear and add an additional shake in for more protein as most people on the boards suggest it.  Pretty much the more protein the better. My doctor requires 50-60g per day.  Your program may be different.  And you will see from the posts that there are MANY members who are 90+grams per day!  I was really happy to calculate out a typical day sample menu at my follow up appt today and found out I've been averaging 82g!  I was really happy about that since I didn't think I was getting that much in. Great news on the new do!  I LOVE getting new haircuts, but always end up going back long again.  Shorter hair is so much fun because you can play with it so many ways.  You need to take a new pic and load it as your avatar.  I'm sure everyone would love to see your smiling face on these posts!  :) talk soon.

Oh I figures 20 grams a day wasn't enough but since I knew I was going to have a hard time finding something that I'd like, I wanted to get as much protein in a single serving as I could.  I am hoping that the 20 grams per serving in the Muscle Milk is enough.  I go to my pre op and final class on Wednesday and thats when I will get the information.  I am looking forward to trying the samples you are bringing just in case I become one of them thats taste changes after surgery.  I am hoping to take pics this weekend when we go to the park, if Cameron is feeling better.  I will probably post them then.  I will call ya on Friday. Hi, Teresa:  I am glad you like the Muscle Milk!  I really like the Light version of it -- and the 20g works well for me for one of my two protein supplements during the day.  I, like Lauren, am able to get more protein from foods now, so what I do is have a Muscle Milk Light for one, then have 1/2 or a whole bottle of Isopure for the second (the full bottle is 40g, so a lot of the time I don't need the whole thing).  You should go according to what your surgeon suggests -- they all seem to have different ideas of how best to get the protein in, how much, when, etc. etc. etc.  It sounds like your hair is adorable!  How fun that you are taking the time now to do some things that are new and exciting!  And yes....in my ever so humble opinion -- these two are definitely WOW moments!  :)

Good am Theresa, I love finding ways to pamper myself and change things up. I bet your haircut is cute and spiffy! Glad you have find something protein wise that you enjoy. Its such a pain in the beginning. 20 grams is great at one time but you surely need to be getting in 60-80 grams or better (in my opinion & I STILL do this daily). Congrats on your successes and finds and wows thus far. All best and many more!
