Help, I'm pregnant and I need some advice!
Well, it's been 2 years since my surgery. I went from 356 to "onederland" (195 ) and I've maintained my weight for over 8 months now. Although I can't seem to get these last 45 pounds to go anywhere I'm still very proud of myself. 1st of all, let's face it, I haven't been 1 hundred anything since I was in jr high (well, well, well, well over 15 years ago). 2nd of all I've maintained my weight - even over the holidays and major dramatic life changes like loosing my job. The old me would have eaten my way back into a size 20 but I continued to loss and (as it stands) I'm well in my teens (14-16 bottom). My husband (who couldn't keep his hands off me when I was a size 26) is loving it! We do so much more together we go out, we walk, go to theme parks (and ACTUALLY GET ON RIDES!!!
), etc. We even go to the park with my beautiful step-kids and play!
Now for the BIG CONCERN - All that "playing around" with my husband has resulted in a little surprise - I'm pregnant. At 1st I was concerned about eating enough for myself and the little one - would I get enough nutrients for both of us? What are the risks for the baby? Are there any extra precaution I should take? We called both my surgeon and my primary care and they both assured be it would be fine. I made an appointment with my primary care for took blood work and prescribed some extra vitamins (Folic acid, iron, etc) and referred me to an OBGYN my Surgeon submitted a referral to a Nutrients. I've met with both and everyone's said they not to worry. So, I did what I did before my GB - I started doing my own research and found out a few things that I'm a little concerned about. You see, I've hear so many stories about GB patients who gain weight back after having a baby. They did well after the surgery and kept it off for years but as soon as they had the baby everything changed. I wonder if anyone has any ideas, comments or tips for going through and after having a baby?
Does anyone who has a baby after the surgery have some advice or stories to share? Oh, by the way - I'm 10 weeks and 5 days now.
