Hey everyone!

So it's day 4 of my banded life and I am loving everything about it still.  no buyers remorse at all!!!! I went for two half mile walks yesterday with my husband and dog and i think the second one I pushed the speed up a little too much and felt a little pull in my abdomen, nothing bad, just a muscle soreness.  So i know now to take it slower and take my time.  My husband takes the dog running ahead and then I call her back to me and she comes bounding down the road, so they get a little more exercise out of the walk, since we used to walk about 2 miles a day.  Other than that things are great, I am doing my best to get my protein and calories in, i am falling a bit short, but am definitely getting my fluids in.  I gained 6 pounds in fluids and gas from the surgery, and all of that is gone now, I am back down to my pre-op (post liquid diet) weight which is so cool!  I am so ready for the rest of this journey and completely new lifestyle!  my husband runs so I am hoping that once i get my knee up to par with biking and my eliptical, i will be able to start jogging with him.  My knee is royally messed up, but I know it's one of the best excercises you can do for total body training.  One day at a time, right?! Thanks everyone who wrote comments and messages!  i truly appreciate all of the support!!! ~Kris

Hey Kris!!  From one lap bander to another, welcome to the Big Loser's bench!!   As Jackie already said, & I still struggle with this at nearly 9 months post-op, take your time.  Especially since you're a newbie.  I know how much you wanna get that extra weight off, but for us, weight loss is much more gradual than for the bypassers.  It can get hard sometimes to watch their numbers go down so rapidly, but that's ok...it's just the nature of our beast. It will be a few weeks yet before you get your first fill so take advantage of this healing time & prepare yourself.  I have found most important to be chew, chew, chew.  And DO purchase a couple of bottles of Papaya Enzyme.  IF & WHEN you get food stuck, those two little chewable (& tasty) pills will make all the difference in the world.  I keep one bottle in my purse, since I eat away from home often, & one bottle on my dining table. If you ever need anyone to chat with or ask questions, I'm here, kiddo.

Hugs!
Ann

Believe me, no walking more than a mile right now! lol, I know that the healing process is the MOST important to this journey.  Right now my main project is getting all of my protein in.  Which is tough when you can only drink half a shake at a time, it's been over four hours and i still can't find room to drink the rest of it.  So it will go in the fridge for tomorrow.  i am ordering some whey protein 3oz protein shot kind of things, my nut says only whey protein, so I was excited when i saw these, they have 42 grams of protein.  So they will definitely be a great back up if i can't get my protein in.  i know that once i am on regular foods i won't have the protein problem nearly as much when eating chicken and fish are my favorite things! haha.  My mom grills a different kind of fish every night during the summer, (we eat at the beach) so when I go home in July I will be spoiled rotten!  I am hoping to find a good fresh fish place around here, but it's nothing like RI where there is one on every corner.  Thanks again for the support and I will definitely take things slower! I promise!

You're off to a good start.  Just take it slow to start so you can heal good and you'll be back up to your two miles before you know it!  :)
