If you are a baker or someone that uses Splenda in your recipes, how does it compare to sugar? Other than the dumping factor?  I try to avoid sugar totally and really want to try some Splenda recipes, but want to see how everyone else does with this .  If you do not use Splenda .. Is there another sweetener you use other than sugar.  I really want to make some SF BBQ Sauce and think I may try it with Splenda .  Here is to cooking healthy !!  Nat

Hey Nat We add Splenda to EVERYTHING, and not that Splenda for baking stuff, the real deal one. Even if you receipe calls for sugar, just add the splenda. You cant tell the difference. We have been using it for so long, even before surgery. www.Splenda.com has wonderful receipes. ;) Love ya

Great question and good responses so far. Splenda.com is great and chock full of recipes. In addition, I do bake/cook with Splenda some of the time however, have gotten a ways away from a lot of artificial sweetener. I mainly use Equal in my coffee and otherwise choose to go unsweetened. Enjoy!

I have been looking at other alternatives as well , as I get head aches sometimes and wonder if it can be coming from the Splenda . My Sister In Law swears it is , but I have been doing it for so long . I will be sure to check out the web site .  I would love to make some BBQ Sauce that has No sugar ..

I have noticed a different texture when I bake with Splenda but still enjoy my goodies.  I also found that it tastes better to me if I use just a little bit less than what the "sugar" amount is because sometimes I notice a bit of an aftertaste.  Just start experimenting & see what you come up with.

I use Splend and Nature's Sweet all of the itme - can't tell the difference.... Check out bariatriceating.com...she has a really good BBQ recipe there, as well as some others for using both products. Can I ask...if you aren't using Splenda, what have you been using?  Might be somthing I'd like to check in to.....

Tink, I just bought the Splenda Cookbook from Costco it was only like $12-15 bucks and looked like it had all kinds of great recipes! I have also used the sugar/splenda blend and brown sugar splenda blend a little bit for my family in my cooking. I am trying to stay as much sugar free as I can, so I hope to experiment more with the traditional splenda. I'll let you know what turns out well in my experimentation. Someone said the texture is a bit different with splenda in some things. Personally I don't mind if my baking looks a little funny or the testure is a bit off if I can get the great taste and avoid my old friend sugar! Ann/McLean
