pre op was evil
So I started my pre op with getting an ultra sound to check my gall bladder. Come to find out, I have a gall stone, I've named him Fred. Figured since he was living in my gall bladder, rent free, may as well give him a name. So they are going to remove the gall bladder when they do my surgery. Yay!!! Well then I went to see the Nurse practioner for my 11:15 appt. I get there at 10:50. They call me in the back and I sit there until 1:25, when she comes in. I had my lab work appt at 12:15 so I was very late. I get there to the lab at 2:10 and at 2:30, we had just finished the interview part and still had bloodwork, ekg, xray, and abg's to do before my 4:00 class. The admissions lady calls the dr's office and we decide that I do as much as I can before 3:30 because I had taken my insulin at noon, 150 units and hadn't eaten yet. So I get my blood drawn, and that's it. I go eat and then sit in class til 8'ish. I had to go back the next day for the rest. That was so much easier. I was in there and out within an hour. So I am all set. I start my pre op diet next Wednesday, if not before. I see Dr Bautista on April 22 and then my surgery, April 30!!! Yay!!! Thanks for all the prayers and well wishes. They mean alot and you guys and gals are AWESOME!!!
Hugs, Theresa
Hey Penny, my pre op diet is similiar. I have a shake (slim fast high protein or carnation instant breakfast sugar free type thing) for breakfast or lunch, and for dinner, 4 oz of lean turkey, chicken breast, pork, beef, fish or shellfish, and unlimites non starchy vegetables. i can have a snack of baby carrots or sugar free jello. And to consume 64 ounces of fluid a day. They did say that we could switch up the meal and eat a breakfast or lunch so I may do that too. Since I start Sunday, I'm wondering if I should hit the Golden Corral tonight? Hahaha!!! Best wishes to you too hun!!!

I am so guilty of that. I have had a list of restaurants I wanted to hit before the surgery...and I have hit them all but 1. I've actually gained a few pounds and I'm worried because my dr. says he will postpone the surgery if you weigh more than you did on your 1st visit. But I'm figuring this pre-op diet will take it off really quick. (That's my plan anyway). I have to admit though that I really regret gaining these pounds (about 6) because it's getting close and I'm so scared that if I can't do this, how am I going to be able to control the food after the surgery. I am afraid of "failing" again. Maybe I'm just getting pre surgery jitters or second thoughts. How about you?
Hey Theresa, glad you made it through the preop. Sucks that it went so crazy though. Getting your gallbladder out because of Fred is great news, you don't want to end up having to go back under months later becuase your gallbladder decided to not work right after surgery. Hit that Golden Corral girl. Make a night of it. I will be honest, I had a piece of chocolate cake at least once, sometimes twice a day for the last week before my surgery. It is crazy and you should watch so that you don't over do it before surgery. Enjoy!!!!
