I am Back on the road again.
Hi all,
After a long haul with my medical crap, I have been rescheduled for RYN May 14. YEAH
I unfortantly was on a high dose of steroids which made me gain 75 lbs while dealing with my condition of Sarcoidosis. So I have a bigger challenge to deal with. My weight now being at 405
YIKES.
I have not ben posting much but have been keeping up with all the news.
Look forward to sitting on the losers bench with you all.
We have also moved from Reston, Va. to Hot Springs, VA.
I will be having my surgery at Fair Oaks With DR. Anez.
Any info that any one has about traveling after surgey would be helpful. It is a 3 hour drive. How long after being dicharged will I have to wait to travel?? etc. Any advice with anything would be helpful.
I will try to be more active with posting.
Thanks for your help
Lanette

That's great news that you have a date. It's just a little over a month away. I would recommend taking a pillow and water/crystal lite in the car with you for the drive home. Take a break every hour to get out and walk a little--even if it's just to the restroom. Make sure to take your pain meds before you travel too.
Let me know if I can do anything else for you!
All the best.
Hey Lanette!!! Congrats on your surgery date. So sorry about the steroids & weight gain but soon you will be on the losers bench & it will be melting away. Maybe try a low carb high protein diet between now & then to see if you can get some off. Dr. Anez is fabulous isn't he. Well my suggestions for travel are pretty much the same as Jen's. I was able to leave immediately after discharge. Make sure you have a pillow to put over your tummy (cushion for the bumps & seatbelt). Have some water to sip on, maybe some sugar free jello or something (I ended up getting hungry on the way home, luckily we had stopped at the grocery store). Definitely stop every hour or so to walk around (blood clots risks). And try to sleep, it will make it easier. Best to you & keep us updated.
Good am Lanette,
Those pesky steroids...ugh I DONT miss them but they restored my hearing after a nasty severe double ear infection/flu! Congrats on surgery which is going to be here before you know it! The others have given you GREAT tips. I wore home what I came to the hospital in minus the bra. It consisted of a sweater, slip on pants, panties and slip on shoes. Luckily, we didn't live far (10 mins) from the hospital. I would suggest stopping frequently to get out, up and stretch some say a couple times around the car??? Then I would also suggest you take a pain pill about 1/2 hour or so before being discharged. This REALLY helps. All best and keep us posted!
