I had gastric bypass surgery at UVA in May, 2002.  I am interested in revision surgery.  Has anyone had this surgery done at UVA.  I have called them and a doctor is supposed to call me on Monday.  Thanks for any help you can offer.

Melinda Gregory is a support group leader for that area , Her doctor was Shrimer. And I know that there are a few others here that have had it there as well .  UVA offers a wonderful Bariatric Program. I think you have made a wise decision to go there.  If you are looking for a support group  , You could contact Melinda . Her Screen name here is  Prissy25  http://www.obesityhelp.com/morbidobesity/members/profile.php ?N=G1003525861  I am sure she will see this and maybe even contact you .  Best wishes on your revision ,  Natalie

Thanks for your reply.  I had my original surgery at UVA and was very happy with the staff.  I read last night about the StomaphyX procedure and want to look into it also.  Thanks again.

Hi I have talked w/ Dr Schirmer about the new procedure but was ask to wait a few months, so Im very curious to here what he tells you and where you go with this. An like Natalie said I do have a support group meet here in Charlottesville we normally meet every 4th Sat. of the month and we would love to have you join us. You can email me @ [email protected] for more info or pm me here. But please keep me up on the news that DR Schirmer tells you. Thanks for all of your information.  I will let you know if I get a return phone call.  I have been looking on line about the StomaphyX and understand that there is a doctor at Johns Hopkins that does the procedure.  Do you know anything about him?  What about the cost?   Where does the support group meet?  I have was on the computer reading the information on this site until the wee hours of the morning and found a lot of good information.  Thanks again.
