Hey Nat, when is your Childhood Obesity Rally?

Nat, I now find I will be going to Florida the day after the May 3rd event  - for work  - and I will be there all week. So if the rally is happening after the 3rd I should be able to come and support you. Let me know!  Maybe I can even be of some help..... Jackie

We are to confirm our flights this week for arrival on Friday the 2nd . And the town meeting is Saturday the 3rd . I am still waiting on Alan's Mom to get back to us on a head count and to see how many signed up . What part of Florida are you going to ? Would be great for the 3 of us to do some beach time !!  I will keep you posted !  Me

Oh darn it - I will miss it then by a day!  I was hoping I could see you!  I am going to Tampa and working all week except for Friday when I am off for the day - coming back on Saturday.  I am taking Connor with me and Jeannie is coming to babysit Connor while I am working - so we would be up for beach time on the Friday if you are still here. I will be staying at the Embassy Suites at Spectrum Blvd in Tampa. Keep me posted! Jackie

I am also attempting .. and I use that strongly to get into the Ashburn Villiage Sports Compex  to hold one. They did one with INOVA this past week for Childhood Obesity Awareness , but they had a very small turn out . I contacted INOVA and am waiting to get a responce .  I would love for all of us to try to be there to speak to these children . Who knows what they will do , sometimes money is an issue ... renting the space ... I am working on my Power Point now , and hope that it will be done . Dr. Hutcher is getting a copy so he can put his approval behind it as well . That would help me out a lot .  Thanks for the offer ... and best wishes on the May 3rd Event . There are organizations that deal just with childhood obesity  Maybe you could contact them and do an event for them - they at least would do some of the leg work for you, you would have volunteer help and you could still be the speaker. Just my thoughts - Parents do not like to admit they have an issue with their children being obese so it is a tread carefully situation I think.  Speaking to the adults will have more of an impact than speaking to the younger child as children follow by example. Might be better to have some kind of fun event where children are present - only nutritional food is served - but tasty nutritional food and the recipes can be given to the parents- someone there to show the kids how to exercise etc - you probably have more chance to get participation than if you just lecture them...... but again that costs money to do.........
