Hi WLS friends,   One week out from hernia surgery and doing well. Yesterday was tough with going through withdrawal from oxycotin and morphine. Lots of sweating. Today is much better. Still sore and tired. Not sleeping well at night as I can only sleep on my back. Even lieing on my side is painful. I am getting out...went to church and to the store today. This week I am going to work on projects around the house...cleaning out drawers and closets. I can get use to this time off from work.    For those in the Charlottesville area, there is a nice article in the Martha Jefferson Hopital magazine about the new bariatric surgeon at Martha Jefferson Hospital. I will bring it to our next Meet and Greet. See you then and have a great Sunday!! Cindy Switzer

Hi Cindy, Glad to see you are up and about again after surgery. Hernia recovery is usually pretty painful at the beginning but it does get better I promise.... Hang in thre and Tylenol Raoid gels are pretty effective too - it is usually my step down after percocet when I have surgery... Please try to relax and take it easy for a while.... :-) Jackie

Hey Cindy!  Glad to hear you are on the road to recovery.  I know when I had my gall bladder out, sleeping was as issue.  One of the things that I found helped for sleeping on my side, was to take a body pillow, lay it down next to me, prop my belly up on it/against it.  It helped so much with the incisions and muscles so that they didn't pull & hurt.

Hi Ms Court,   Thank you for the suggestion of using pillows. I will try that tonight. Today I was weighed at my PCP and lost 10# following surgery and eating less. Before surgery I weighed at 210 and as of today weighed 196. Could there have been much fluid before the surgery? A question for my surgeon. Anyway, I have gone back to eating basics and soon I willb e able to work out.    Hope that you are doing well.   Cindy
