Things are comming together QUICKLY.
Hi Everyone,
I have all my my Pre-op appointments scheduled. I meet with my Nut. on Sat. Then I go to the hospital on Wed. the 23rd. for blood work, gallbladder ultrasound and ABG test. My final appointment with my surgens office is May 5th. Then May 14th. Surgery @9:15 At INOVA Fair Oaks. I am so excited and scared and well a little of everything.
I am so confident with Dr. Anez and his staff.
So I just have to stay calm. YEAH RIGHT
Any words of wisdom or thoughts of your experience would be appreciated.
It is so nice to know even though I do not personally know you all I feel like you are all there for me.
Thanks for being there.
Lanette
Yay Lanette!
You have LESS than a month to go! I was so excited for my surgery date to come. Kinda like Christmas Eve when you were a kid.
Then I got worried..wrote letters to loved ones, my last wishes etc. Then all of a sudden an incredible sense of calm washed over me.
Prepare for the hospital. Chapstick, a hair tie if you have long hair, toothbrush/toothpaste, disposable facial cloths--I use Oil of Olay, deodorant and time of the month supplies if applicable. Aunt Flo can come early or late with the stress of surgery.
For the ride home, big comfy pjs or such pants with an elastic waist, and a pillow to hold against your belly.
Have you gotten some protein samples? I suggest that you don't buy a big container yet as your tastes may change after surgery.
www.bariatriceating.com and www.unjury.com are two sites I use. Some folks like the 'bullet' It's 3 oz of protein that is kinda like jello before it sets.
We are here for you!
Hi, Lanette: How exciting -- you are on your way! Jen had some fantastic suggestions and comments. For me, I was nervous, but I just had my mind so set on doing it that I pushed through the nerves and said "let's go!" Honestly, I think my husband was more nervous than I was! :) The next month is going to pass so quickly for you -- it will be here before you know it and be starting your "journey of a lifetime!" Best of luck...and remember we are here for you!
Thanks Cindy,
I hope it passes quickley then I don't have much time to think.
I have a three year old little girl, so She is my motivation to get healthy and start living life. I want to watch her grow up.
That is a huge scare of mine that I will not be here for her.
I hope that everything goes well.
Thanks for your support.
Good am Lanette,
I'm glad things are coming along for you. Kayla my oldest was just over 2 when I had surgery and I too thought about leaving her here etc. However, I also knew she fought for her life a few years earlier as did I to stay here and live. So, she was definitely more motivation for me besides my real desire to get healthier. My suggestions are to express your emotions as much as you can and let others around you know your love. Some folks have written letters, others have done video diaries and still others have given things to God and worked on letting go and letting Him. In what ever you choose we're here to support you. Calm? LOL! Yeah that's not happening. The next month will speed by and we'll be adding you to the losers bench.
Some tips for the hospital is to wear something comfy, something to pull your hair back if you have long hair, chapstick (which I didn't use but wished I'd brought) and what ever makes you comfortable. I didn't take much because I wasn't staying long. :) All best!
