I'm doing it...

After my worries over the weekend I woke up Monday with a different attitude. I was sort of stressing on Saturday about saying good bye to food. Thanks for everyones post...it really helped. But..on Monday, I weighed on my scale and thought.....this is the highest I will ever see on a scale again. That was motivation for me. And this morning I  was already down 4 pounds. I started the pre-op diet and was so hungry. I stopped by my dr office today  and they told me I could add sugar free jello and 1 Pur protein bar (the  smores flavor was great).  My family joined the Y on Friday and I started yesterday with the Nautilus machines for about 20 minutes. Today I played basketball enough to get a  little work out and then walked 1.5 miles outside while the kids played.  Thanks for listening. I'm just getting excited about this and happy that I'm  doing something other than laying on the couch, watching tv, and eating. It's really starting to sink in that my life is about to change. Penny

Great job Penny.  I myself have had a break through.  After dinner with Lauren and Sarah, and having great conversation, and getting support, I am sure now, that I can do this (pre op diet).  I am so glad you have gotten to your safe place and pretty soon, we both will be on the losing side.  Hugs, Theresa

Wow - is that 4 pounds in one day? Because that is impressive! It sounds like you're doing a lot of the right things- like calling your doctor to see what you can add to your pre-op diet instead of just deciding for yourself, which is what I would be likely to do :)  I hope you enjoy the Y.  Best of luck! Good am Penny, What a wonderful thing...changing our attitudes to give ourselves the chance to fight for our life. You may still have down moments but always try to find the positives in everything. Getting in as much activity by yourself and with the kids will truly help you moving forward. I started walking before surgery although not far with a neighborhood friend and it truly helped in my post-op day. Excitement is GREAT! Your life is for sure changing NOW! All best!

You have all wonderful news.  It is very liberating to come to terms wiht the food and know that before you know it that scale will be moving DOWN!  :)  Great to hear that you and the family have joined the Y and doing exercising as a family unit will probably make it easier to stay on track with the support of your loved ones!

Oh my gosh Penny.   Woooooohoooo you go girl .  You really are doing it.  Down 4lbs.  wow that is so awesome and I am totally excited that your family has joined the Y and you are starting with your exercising.  Wow again to walking the 1.5 miles.  Keep it up and you will continue to lose but the best part is you will heal faster.  Are you already working on getting your protien in?  Remember the offer still stands for me to pick up that protien from Sam's for you if you like.  Just give me a pm and I will will give you my phone number.  I think you may already have it but just in case.   What time is your surgery?  Also I would like to get your hubby's number since I will be updating everyone here on how you are doing.   You can pm that info to me too.   I would love it if he can call me on my cell as soon as he finds out how you are doing after your surgery.  I'll pm you all my numbers.  Oh boy I am getting so excited for you!!   !!!  The time is going to fly by now!!
