diet concern
HI everyone!! First I want to say think you for all the support and responses you give. Also thank you for being so welcoming. Its nice to be among others who understand!
My concern is i'm vegetarian, I am hoping to not give up that lifestyle before and after my WLS. Does anyone know if I will still be able to do this? Is anyone here a veggie???
Good am! Yes mam its VERY possible to maintain a vegetarian post-op lifestyle. If you would, please take a few minutes to read the article here on OH. You'll see what you are looking for about 1/2 down or so. Also, considering visiting the Diet & Nutrition forum and posting with regard to your questions and concerns as when I did a search several topics under vegetarian sprang up! All best!

About have way down: Vegatarianism and Protein
Good morning and welcome to the VA Board, looks as if you have gotten some real good answers to the vegetarian question. I cant give you anything on that, but sounds like they have you on the right track. Good luck and know we are here for you if you need any other questions.

Ok...I can kind of answer you here...My wife is a vegetarian. I'm not. And yes, there are a ton of options for you to remain vegetarian. Now there is no way to stay vegan, but as long as you are ovo-lacto, you should be fine. Since whey protein is so crucial to you post-op, vegans can' t play.
In terms of getting your protein, there are tons of great options. Cottage cheese, Bocas, legumes, Morningstar, Quorn. Just make sure your doctor know what you restrictions are.
Best of luck!
I am not a veggie, but do love my cheese -- and with the DS you NEED extra fats, cheese is perfect. That and nuts, eggs, even tofu. You won't HAVE to eat meat, but oh, is it ever delish!
Let me encourage you to examine ALL the WLS options -- not just the one or two the closest doc to you offers.
You wouldn't take an aspirin for a heart attack when you NEEDED a bypass just because your doc didn't DO the bypass, would you?
